Don't see a thread on this. What's the story then, who would be considered favourites. Can see no sign of bookie odds but Meath's trimming of Dublin bound to have them up there.
Tyrone v Cork
Sligo v Meath
There hasn't been any betting at Minor level for a few years https://www.rte.ie/sport/other-sport/2016/0608/794067-paddy-power-ends-under-18-sports-betting/

Based on the games I've seen and the results so far Tyrone would be strong favourites.
Cork squeaked by what was supposed to be the weakest Kerry side in years and were very unimpressive against an ordinary Limerick side.
Sligo in massive bonus territory.
Meath decent without being anything special.
If all goes to form Tyrone will win it out handily enough against Meath in the final.
However they are only young lads and sometimes teams have an off day (especially at U17 level).

Agreed Tyrone look like the stand out team. Could easily have a semi final double header in Croke Park this weekend instead of sticking to the original plan of Breffni Park, O'Connor and crowds of only 2,000.
Update GAA HQ has confirmed Breffni Park for Sligo v Meath and Tullamore for Tyrone v Cork.
12.45pm and 2.30pm throw in times on Saturday and TG4 covering both games.
I'd expect Sligo to win it out. A bit like Offaly and their under 20's, they have put a very strong team together. Would have won the Connacht Final by a lot more if it had been a decent day.

That's a bold prediction. Having watched the Connacht final Sligo made best use of the conditions and I think another wet and windy day could suit them v Meath.

Sligo have beaten Tyrone this year in a fairly competitive challenge game. That said there is no form book really so hard to know.

Can't read too much out of challenges. Roscommon U20s beat Offaly by a bit to spare in a June challenge.
It's hard to know as the occasion of All Ireland semi final can get the better of players especially under 17s.

At the time of the challenge game, how many of the 2021 panel were with the 2020 panel?

Live on TG4
Meath (All-Ireland MFC semi-final v Sligo):
Oisin McDermott;
Conor Ennis, Liam Kelly, Brian O'Halloran;
Shaun Leonard, Tomas Corbett, Killian Smyth;
Paul Wilson, Jack Kinlough;
Andrew Moore, Sean Emmanuel, Conor McWeeney;
Christian Finlay, Oisin O Murchu, Hughie Corcoran
Leonard, Kinlough and Hughie Corcoran have been the stand outs for us so far. Hard to gauge us based on Leinster form as the quality has been falling a bit in the province the last few years but then Offaly bucked that trend so we'll have to see but we're in with a good shot at getting to the final.
Sean Emmanuel stood out in the Leinster final v Dublin.
Sligo line up. Both semi finals Live on TG4 TV channel

Over the years you learn challenge games at minor mean nothing, from non involvement of players due to school, club commitments etc. This year has an additional factor in that you had the 2020 and 2021 championship being played simultaneously which has resulted in more absentees than normal. I haven't watched any of the minor teams from outside Ulster so can't comment on them, but I haven't seen a more impressive Tyrone minor team in my lifetime. They beat Donegal comfortably in the end, but that result was from a day when they probably had their worst shooting boots on. High hopes for them but I've probably jinxed them now. Cork and Meath final.
Meath 1-4 Sligo 0-3 at the water break.
Half time Meath 1-11 Sligo 1-4.
Sligo are a man up and Meath still have a free man in their own fb line ???
2nd water break. Meath 1-14 Sligo 1-5. Meath down to 14 men but this is going to be a routine win for the Leinster champions.
Full Time Meath 2-14 Sligo 2-9. Meath good value for that 5 point win but to Sligos credit they went down fighting.
Some rain in Cavan.
1st water break. Tyrone 0-5 Cork 0-2.
Half time Tyrone 0-10 Cork 0-3.Tyrone much the better team and could afford a penalty miss.
Tyrone streets ahead of a slow laboured cork outfit
Two good goal chances not taken by Tyrone but doesn't matter they strolling to victory here. 50 minutes played Tyrone 0-15 Cork 0-5.
FT Tyrone 0-23 Cork 1-6. If we had odds for the minor grade Tyrone would be strong favourites to win the All-Ireland final.
What's the craic with these balloons that stand behind the interview screen??
Yer man in the Offaly jersey never wastes a chance to get his face on TV ;D

The Offaly supporter that loves to get on TV? Very awkward interview with the Cork goalkeeper.

Tyrone could've won 4 -23 to 0 -6...no way that Cork 'goal' crossed the line and Tyrone missed about 4 1 on 1s and a penalty
Tyrone are a serious outfit....Good job they missed those goals or they'd have been more complacent v Meath.
Missed the Meath game but hear they're some outfit

Would need to see a better replay of that Cork goal to know for sure. Meath are decent but I'll be surprised if Tyrone don't win the final by a bit to spare. The clear stand out team at U17 level this year.

He was Corks stand out player the main reason it wasn't a 20 plus point beating. Poor form I thought by TG4 deciding to interview him. Give him the MOTM trophy off camera was the sensible thing to do.

Meath look solid defensively. Can't give up so many goak chances the next day
Two unchanged sides named for todays final.
Tyrone
Niall Robinson; Michael Rafferty, Ronan Fox, Callan Kelly; Hugh J Cunningham, Shea O'Hare, Matthew Mallon; Ronan Donnelly, Ruairi McHugh; Ronan Strain, Cormac Devlin, Gavin Potter; Ronan Cassidy, Paddy McCann, Eoin McElholm
Subs: Conor McAneney, Conan Devlin, Ben Hughes, Brian Hampsey, Conor Owens, Noah Grimes, Caolan O'Hagan, Jack Martin, Ronan Molloy
Meath
Oisin McDermott; Conor Ennis, Liam Kelly, Sean O'Hare; Tomas Corbett, John O'Regan, Killian Smyth; Paul Wilson, Jack Kinlough; Shaun Leonard, Sean Emmanuel, Conor McWeeney; Christian Finlay, Oisin O Murchu, Hughie Corcoran
Did Oisin O Murchu get his straight red v Sligo downgraded to a yellow?
This has the makings of a very good game.
1st water break 18 minutes played. Good game thus far 1-4 each.
Half time Meath 1-7 Tyrone 1-6.
2nd water break 47 minutes played. Meath 1-11 Tyrone 1-8
Excellent game.
Meath just that wee bit better. Good game between two good teams. Tyrone need to take more of their chances.
Meath 1-11 Tyrone 1-10 with 3 minutes of normal time to play.
Level game after a number of Tyrone wides. 1-11 each. 1 minute of injury time to play
Some drama at the end, Tyrone miss a free to bring the game into injury time.
FT Meath 1-12 Tyrone 1-11. On the evidence of the two semi finals I couldn't see past Tyrone but credit to Meath they were superb today and fully deserved their win a first minor All-Ireland title since 1992.
All tyrone in final 15 min. However they are putting on an exhibition on how not to shoot
Tyrone didn't deserve it with that crap at the end.
Shame to see a minor team lose with misses like that as it haunts boys. Two very good teams. That Meath defense was very good and the number two was some warrior.
Great game. Meath just about done enough but how many chances did Tyrone need
What was the wide count for Tyrone? Some crazy shot selections, and we missed that much that I wasn't confident of that last free going over.
Meath the better team. They hit some wides themselves but tyrones were brutal
Unfortunately for tyrone they lost it for themselves. Couldn't believe the amount of wides and short balls in the last 10 mins. They are a good young team, hopefully they will learn from this.
Wide count was 13 12 very near the end. I think Tyrone had maybe two more. It wasn't that they were wides it was more where they were from.
Some good players both sides.

Wouldn't have said meath were the better team at all. Tyrone literally kicked themselves out of it. Should have been 3 or 4 in front in the last few minutes.
Unfathomable wides from Tyrone at the end. Still kids I guess.
That was a great last point for Meath to win the game, extraordinary nightmarish finish to the game by the Tyrone lads, they can't even claim to be unlucky losers.
Tyrone blew that. Should have won it, never mind draw it. And they were far from the better team
Over the course the 60 plus minutes the better team won so congrats to Meath.
Tyrone left to rue those missed chances. The nerves got the better of both teams late on. Firstly Meath giving up the chances which they weren't doing earlier and then Tyrone wayward with their shooting and shot selection. Huge pressure on the Tyrone number 20 to covert that late free and he'll probably nail that free 9 times out of 10 playing on his club ground.
Time was up once Meath scored last. Game should been blown on the restart
Agreed though perhaps he realised his error with the double bounce for the deciding point...
Overall I felt Meath were the better team on the day and yet Tyrone should have won it only for the shooting. Strange game with a thrilling end.. Congrats to Meath.
