Title: GAA to split season in 2022
Post by: ck on November 05, 2020, 12:57:36 PM
The GAA have announced that they want a split club and county season from 2022 with the All Ireland finals in July. Long overdue in my opinion.

Divsion 4 winners in the top tier championship? Hmm. Although will leave division 1 highly entertaining.

The Ulster side that is lowest in the league is also the one furtherest from Connacht and the one in which a big stadium is being built to hold Ulster finals. You could just move Fermanagh or Donegal, moving Donegal before next week would be even better.

We want no whingy whiny accents bullying our Championship.
We have enough of that with the Rhubarbs who should be put into Ulster if this nonsense goes ahead.

Going to congress in December to be voted by the dinosaurs of our association ie. County Chairmen. It hasn't a hope of being passed.

Looking at the amount of daft things that was voted into Congress in recent years it will be no surprise if passed.

Why send the bottom teams in Ulster and Leinster to Connacht and Munster.

Half of the Connacht teams are Div 4 already. Munster has one football county and 5 hurling ones.

Surely they should be looking to improve the competition in these provinces rather than adding more cannon fodder for the big teams?

Spekaing personally I'd be quite happy for Tyrone to play in the Munster Championship in terms of our AI prospects.

Obviously a Munster title would be a lot more hollow than an Ulster one but it certainly makes your prospects of an AI easier every year.
