Blue Wave - Dublin GAA sought provincial status in 2011
In 2011 Dublin County Board sought "provincial status" for both funding and administration purposes as part of their new six-year strategic plan, the full details of which were announced in Croke Park in late 2011.

In a broad and somewhat bold plan – entitled Unleashing "The Blue Wave": A Strategy for Dublin GAA 2011-2017 – the central theme is Dublin's ever-changing demographics, which is actually described as a "time bomb", and thus presents several unique challenges to the county board.

Did they actually seek it or did they put in a plan that they could/should?

1. Increase annual commercial revenues of the County Board by at least
€1.5m over the plan period.

Good luck every other county bar maybe Cork & Galway

2. Achieve Provincial status for Dublin in terms of funding allocated by
Central Council.

If they want to be treated like province split them!

3. Professionalise Dublin's Brand and Commercial Development Focus to
ensure that the revenue potential of Ireland leading sports brand is
optimised.

What's Leinster Rugby got to do with this?

4. Create an enhanced sense of collaboration between the Dublin County
Committee and Dublin Clubs to generate incremental financial benefit
for the clubs of at least €1m per annum.

I'm sure the clubs in every county generate additional funding of €1m p/a  ::)

5. Secure sufficient funding for the roll out of two centres of excellence
and approximately six club-based cluster facilities over the plan period.

They haven't even got one yet!!!

6. Collaborate with Leinster Council and Central Council to ensure Dublin
perspective is brought to the maximisation of GAA income streams and
to harness the resources of all stakeholders to procure the necessary
funding to develop a suitably-sized stadium in Dublin to cater for the
needs of Dublin and the East Coast counties general.

Show us the money & build us a stadium. Real geniuses here!!!

The fact they expect to be treated like a province should be setting alarm bells ringing.

Let them be a Province with 4 County Boards and 4 County teams.

I reaslly think that is the way to go
and then the whole county can get behind provincial winner who would wear the Dublin  colours,
only thing is how cauold you ensure all the best player would not just tog for the the same 'county' seeing as they all born in in the coombe or rotunda probably

Sure most of Leinster is born in those Hospitals too.
Isn't County eligibility based on address on birth cert or first club?

first club could be the way to go , address in Dublin id reckon would be a lot more flexible tan in most counties and I don't think they have the 'parish rule ' as regards clubs
