Title: Cork v Tipp 10th June
Post by: tippabu on June 06, 2017, 09:53:48 PM
Ask me 3 weeks ago I'd tell you I couldn't see us losing and would've been very confident, since then we have been decimated with injuries and we've gone from looking at who we have to leave out to wondering who we actually have to step in and struggling to put square pegs in round holes. Cork will be massively fired up anyway and want to "put us back in our place". This isn't being cute and talking us down, really worried for what might be in store.

Will you relax :o still have the core there , Liam Boland progressing nicely along with Bergin another great addition this year . I`m confident we will win .

Completely forgot about bergin.....full backline looks in alot of bother especially if codds injury doesnt clear up and we were always going to to under pressure in midfield, that area has gotten a whole lot worse with jack kennedy out

Who'll miss the game?

Comerford, o shaughnessey, McDonald, codd (touch and go I think), Willie conners, kevin fahey, Jack Kennedy, Liam Casey  (been reported he's out anyway), Ian fahy, Philip austin that's as far as I know anyway.

Sad to see such a player as Quinlivan leave the field.

I hope the Quinlivan injury isn't as bad as it looked. Very dull game. Cork with just one point in 28 mins playing with a strong wind. On today's evidence it's easy to see why they struggled to beat Waterford in the last round and were unable to gain promotion out of div 2.

Only enjoyment I had out of that was figuring out was it Benny Coulter or Benny Tierney doing co-commentary.

Tipp doing some good things, but their shooting is letting them down. Their tackling is high quality though, near hand in technically sound.  Their forward play is very ropey though, and the shooting is brutal. I'm hoping there's an improvement with the wind behind, at least 3 dropped short in the first half.

I'd say that was Quinlivan's ankle, hope it;s not as bad as it looked.

Scores as rare as hens teeth. 0-4 to 0-1 would normally mean good defending but this game is two sides one with a toothless attack and the other that was playing against a strong wind.

A drama filled 2nd half. Cork scored as much in that 2nd half 1-9 as Tipp managed in 70 plus mins.

Missed opportunity for Tipp. Cork were there for the taking, but when they pushed up and didn't let Tipp build from the back, they completely threw them. Injuries caught up with Tipp, especially Quinlivan, but that was a game they could and should have won.

I don't think you hate Antrim (we are only ever pitied).

You must hate gain lines.

Think it was Kevin McStay started that nonsense about gain lines

Awful game of football

Referee was a joke

That has got to be the worst cork football team I have ever seen. Tipp didn't look fit. Most of their players were out on their feet with 10 min to go. Paul Kerrigan was a great footballer in his prime but is carrying serious weight now. Still one of cork's best players.

Kerry will destroy them in the Munster final. The difference in fitness/skill/entertainment to the wexford v Kilkenny hurling game was frightening. Like watching junior football before senior hurling and that's being generous to the footballers

Even if quinlivan had stayed on, he would've solidified midfield and won a few possessions when no-one else could. Any team down the numbers we were would struggle badly bar Dublin. We have 4 weeks now, hopefully things will clear up but quinlivan looks like he's facing a lenghty spell out
