Title: Ulster Minor Championship - 2017
Post by: Itchy on May 28, 2017, 08:06:32 PM
A classic el classico in Breffni. Cavan 4 up with 15 to go but anything could happen. Both teams having purple patches and scoring heavily.

Cavan 3-14 Monaghan 1-15. Great game almost spoilt by fighting in last few mins.

Great game in breffni tonight. Bursts of terrific play by both teams. Cavan had a goal harshly disallowed but took the other chances they created. Monaghan missed about 3 clear cut goal chances which was the difference in the end.

Very disappointing day for Tyrone. Had great hopes for this team and with them winning the Ulster minor league I thought we'd a great shot of winning Ulster and perhaps more. Fair play to Derry though, they'll be hard beat.

Disappointing for Tyrone today - its a pity these two teams met in the first round - would have been good to see the fixture after the two teams had got a game or two under the belt and at a neutral venue. I think the referee had more of a bearing on the outcome than he should of - looked like a ref who wanted to be noticed.

The sending off was harsh on Tyrone and this was when the game was in the mixer - also thought he should have gave Tyrone another kick out at the end as when they where fouled for the penalty - time was not up and a Derry player had kicked a ball away to waste time on the run up to the penalty. Could of watched extra time the best in that game as opposed to having to have to watch the cr@p on view in the next match!

Derry good value for the victory - should go far - but alot of what ifs for the Tyrone lads and management.

Interesting that there is still some entertainment in the minor game, maybe crowds at those will pick up while the crowds at senior game turn away from watching the total crap on display. The Cavan v Monaghan game was a joy to behold.

By all accounts Antrim very impressive and Monaghan were highly tipped on the other side.

With Tyrone gone it's wide open. Derry were lucky Tyrone didn't start playing sooner.

Aye good rationale there.
