folks, i am looking for a link to a list of every ulster champ county game since 1980, detailing final scores, scorers, and teams. Searched google but cant get close to what i am looking for...
can anyone help? thanx in advance,...
Good luck to you with that GY. You'll need it.
You can get everything from 2000 onwards easily on the hoganstand http://www.hoganstand.com/general/results/index.aspx and with a bit of care you'll get reports on every game from 1997 from the Examiner http://www.examiner.ie or the Indo http://www.unison.ie/irish_independent/.
Once you get past that though, you'll probably need to do a Jerome Quinn and spend a whole lot of time looking at microfilm in Belfast Library.
In my attic I must have over 150 programmes, most of which are Ulster Championship games. I will be up there in Feb fishing out my ski gear. If you have specific games that you are stuck on I'll see what I can do for you. In fairness tho most are 1985/1986 onwards.

Quotefolks, i am looking for a link to a list of every ulster champ county game since 1980,
Try the Guantanamo website and look under "Torture methods - video archive". I'm sure they'll have all the games there.
Mike Sheehy - it's now been some two years since you posted a message on the gaaboard that wasn't a (pointless) attack on Ulster football. Once upon a time it might have been called for. Once upon a time it might have been relevant. Perhaps once upon a time it might even have been funny.
But these days, none of those things apply, so please take your hopeless crusade and f**k off back to the hole you appeared from.

as opposed to you i.e never been relevant or funny on anything.
So f**k off yourself you ignorant Down p***k.
Very articulate. Classy.
It's hard to believe its 25 years since Fermanagh were in an Ulster final. Tyrone were the most successful team in Ulster in the 80's with Monaghan and Armagh next.

The 90's continued the trend of no team really dominating the Ulster title although Donegal made it through to 5 finals. Tyrone were the first team in years to win back to back titles in 95 & 96.
Armagh surprisingly only won one title in the 90's but that was in 1999 when they would go on to dominate Ulster with winning 6 titles within 8 years with Tyrone taking the other 2. Donegal have made it to three finals but have yet to beat Armagh in the 00's.
2001 saw the start of the qualifiers with Fermanagh making huge progress via this path by getting to a semi final in 2004 defeating Armagh in the quarter final.
2000 Derry 1-11 to 1-12 Armagh
2001 Tyrone 1-13 Cavan 1-11
2002 Donegal 1-10 Armagh 1-14
2003 Tyrone 0-23 Down 1-5
2004 Armagh beat Donegal
2005 Armagh & the Ref beat Tyrone
2006 Armagh beat Donegal
Armagh 5 from 5
Tyrone 2 from 2
Donegal 0 from 3
Derry 0 from 1
Cavan 0 from 1
Down 0 from 1
It really is hard to believe that we haven't reached an Ulster final in 27 years. It is due to a number of factors e.g small playing numbers and the strength of individual counties such as Donegal, Derry, Down, Tyrone during this period. Hopefully 2007 will be our year. I'm always optimistic about the future 8)

Maybe Armagh as well there ferm!
Opps, did I also forget to mention Armagh?? I bascially should have mentioned all Ulster counties becasue I have painful memories of heavy defeats from nearly all of them. To be honest, Ulster has been and continues to be the most difficult province to win. You beat one big county and then theres anyone ready to dash the dreams of our first Ulster title. Looking at the draw we might just need a bit of lady luck in 2007 ;D
Golden Years,
I have a small almanac here published in 1999 charting every Ulster football championship result between 1989 and 1998. Done by Damian Dowds and Donal Campbell. Not the scorers mind, but if you still need that info I can post it up. Just don't have the time right now to list them all off, but they're here for ya. I can easily get the details from 2000-2006 if required as well.
Regards,
Rebel Yell
Since 1980 (27 years ago)...
Armagh have won Ulster 8 times from 12 finals
Tyrone have won Ulster 7 times from 10 finals
Donegal have been to 10 finals but only won 3
Down have only won 3 titles from 7 finals
Derry have also only one 3 ulster titles from 7 finals
Down and Tyrone have won the AI twice in that period
Whereas Donegal, Derry and Armagh have only won it once.
I'm surprised Donegal have made it to so many finals and they must be fed up meeting Derry and Armagh and rarely beating them.

much appreciated lads, really surpassed expectations on this. tho i am particularly interested in the down teams for each of those games from 90 onwards. I have picked up the 2000 on but 90-2000 still struggling
1983 - the last time an Ulster final has not involved a sick-county team. Donegal v Monaghan to buck the trend.
QuoteDonegal have made it to three finals but have yet to beat Armagh in the 00's.
Did they give the square ball in the end then?
Donegal are quite likely to get the Anglo-Celt this year, which would reflect their status in the 00's.
