Maghera could and should be further ahead - 14 and 15 look to be very good players but a little in the selfish side. Though I suppose to get as many scores as they did maybe they have to be.

Which club does the Bessbrook corner forward, Kerr, play for?

A Kilkeel lad playing too. Fair distance to go is it not?? Well done to Maghera. Hopefully a couple of those players can eventually break through with Derry.

It is difficult to get into St Paul's if you live outside their catchment area.

Unless you are a good footballer obviously.

I assume other schools in the Macrory Cup have similar unwritten admission policies.

20 miles. Plenty of Lurgan ones go to Armagh and Newry schools which would be similar and further

The thing is to go to St Pauls from Kilkeel you pass St Colombans, St Louis, St Marks, the Abbey, St Colman's and St Joes before you get anywhere near St Pauls.

Well getting an education might also have a role to play, which might cause him to stop at one of the above.

What axe do you have to grind with St Pauls to make a comment like that's?  Indeed what axe do you have to grind with the Maghera lads to hope they break through with Derry? I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy

Anyone at the McLarnon Cup final? Carrickmacross were the better team and had a classy forward in the lad Garland. He was very sharp. Cookstown seemed a bit lackluster and needed to take every chance they had but failed to convert alot.

On a side note it was a bit disappointing from the Carrickmacross school support. They seemed to be having a good time but cheering wides, booing cookstown players and soccer style cheering every pass near the end of the game really pissed me off.

I know they're students having a good time but you think some of the school staff could of told them to catch themselves on!

St Brendans from Kerry will be very hard beat in the final by all accounts in the Kingdom - absolutely stormed through Munster, run up some very high scores and beat the Leinster champs by something like 20 points in the All-Ireland semi - should be about 8-10 of them involved with the Kerry minors as well.

Why is there now two separate cups for MacRory now? Since the new trophy was first presented a few years back there is a second smaller trophy presented to the team as well? Seems to be the same for the MacLarnon also..

Any body know the reason?

Bit of smash and grab win by St Pats at the end. Hard to see the Kerry school beaten in the final going by how they dismantled their semi final opponents.

Could only follow the game on Twitter, seemed like St Pat's were in control for the first 40mins or so. Summerhill goaled and then scored another through a dubious retaken penalty. And only took the lead in the last 10mins. Kearney's penalty was pretty much the last kick of the match.
St Brendan's destroyed both the Munster finalists and their Hogan semi-final opponents, so they'll be massive favourites. Final on the 2nd April.

Not to rain on the St pats parade but every single report I got from Sligo people yesterday was the ref was scandalous and won the game for St Pats, with 10 mins to go he sent off our chb for what no one seems to know as at the time as he gave a free in his favour and then he black carded our best forward for the closing stages very harshly, Summerhill were better team, it was an ulster ref but tbh I don't think that matters to much as we are as likely to get shafted by a Connacht ref as we see every summer at underage level. Pity it wasn't a neutral province ref from Leinster.  Very proud of Summerhill though as by all accounts they left everything out on the field, 5 pts down early in second and to be 3pts up with a min to go and down to 14 against a team like pats is commendable just a travesty that this shit keeps happening in gaa.

The ref wasn't scandalous at all, he made mistakes as did players on both teams. Its the easy out to blame the ref when your beat. Summerhill where on top for about 15 or 20 minutes of the game which hardly makes them the better team.

Far be it from me to defend St. Pat's because I wouldn't usually/ever but the footage of the retaken Summerhill is equally scandallous... I watched it 5 times and still baffled as to why the ref allowed the miss to be retaken!!

Sooner or later people will realize that one ref is not enough for any match - especially big matches like this.

Heartbreaker for summerhill to be up by 3 with 2 mins left. Unfortunately we Are used to losses in our county.

Interesting stat that Maghera have never beaten a Kerry school in an AI Hogan final - a bit of an incentive.
