Title: jim stafford pip
Post by: lawnseed on September 15, 2013, 09:20:08 AM
mother of god!!!

here we have a typical example of everything that's wrong with the 'republic' of Ireland and one of the reasons I keep talking the dungout.

Jim is one of the 37 pips who'll be helping insolvent folk south of the border to sort out their finances.

unfortunately i cant get a link to Jim's disastrous rte radio interview. but in essence Jim's going to be working 'hard' to keep solicitors doctors accountants in houses that reflect "their status in society" its not going to be a problem for Jim if a paye worker has to drop down a few notches to a 2 up 2 down but his professional buddies need a palace in south county Dublin that reflects their position!

i thought their status was that they were broke ::)

that's the republic a country for the people run by the people as long as they're 'professionals'

sweet jez! following complaints Jim actually came back on the radio on a different show to defend his view which remains the same. long live the "republic". vive la liberte

probably because someone has put a brick through Jim's palatial mansion front window he has now issued an apology

search 'rte radio jim Stafford'

I know a company that were PUT INTO receivership for a very small amount of money because they could not pay a VAT return. The reason they could not pay the VAT return was because they were owed almost double the amount from a state department for over two months previous. The reason they could not get paid from the state was because they did not have a tax clearance certificate. The reason they did not have a tax clearance certificate was because they owed vat and round and round......

Eventually, with the loss of seven jobs along came the liquidator and changed the locks, sold off all the stock and equipment. The owner of the company was effectively bankrupt and a liquidation went ahead. To add to his mental stress, about three years later he received a bill from the liquidator for the cost of his services. His house is worth about €360,000 and guess what the amount of bill was? €180,000.

And the liquidator was???

But you folk keep putting up with it that's what gives the Government carte blanche to do what it wants and so far all it appears to have done is shaft the less well off and protect the rich. A few general strikes and big demonstrations would let them see enough is enough but until that happens they'll continue along the path they're going

Are things in the north really any different? Are your politicians really any better than ours?

The only difference, as I see it, is the media. Our media tend to dwell on the economic situation whereas their northern counterparts have much more important matters to deal with. Parading issues, flying of flags and who is hanging out of Iris Robinson this week. Obviously they northern media have too much time on their hands, as according to Jerome they don't cover anything GAA related whatsoever.

General strikes and big demonstrations have worked quite well for you guys in the past.  :-[

Been doing alot of work for businesses and individuals trying to restructure and reorganise loans. Basically trying to keep the business running, keep people in jobs and avoid receivers.

To say some of the state owned banks are inflexible and treating people with a total lack of reason is putting it mildly. They can't see right for wrong and are basically accusing people of ruining the economy.

In one meeting the bank official started defending the bank and how they have to protect the taxpayer. You couldn't make it up, he got some reception across the table on that one.

You're so right. We pay a fortune up here for school books, visits to the Doctor etc etc just like you do  But to be honest, the sad thing about your post is that instead of realising you're being shafted you go looking for reasons to prove you're not being shafted as much as others I'm not defending our politicians even though they're not shafting us but you seem to leap to the defence of yours

Free school books and NHS waiting lists, some of you Nordies would die if the umbilical cord to Britain was ever cut.

I'm not saying the black north doesn't have it's attractions. Your bankruptcy laws for one are well worth a wee visit to your wee country. Anyone looking at one of these PIPs would be as mad as one of your cows if they didn't consider 12 months and a day to become debt free.

That's no way to talk about lawnseed, his punctuation and grammar probably isn't what it should be, but other than that he is ok.

I hope the link to England is still ok, wouldn't want you losing your free school books and your NHS freebies.
