..just havin a debate with her indoors...is there anyone?
Beckham seems universally popular.
Anyone else?
Tom Hanks.
Nelson Mandela?
Plenty of people don't like Beckham. It's a bit like Justin Bieber, lots of people all over the world like him but it doesn't mean he's universally liked and you don't have to look very far for people who detest him.
I think someone like Rodger Federer would be a better example.

Nelson Mandela is surely the most obvious one.
Others maybe include Brian O'Driscoll, Bruce Springsteen, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman?
Chuck Norris

My Dad never liked him. He gave away the results of the big race at the top of the sports news everytime. Dad would have the racing taped and would be ready to sit down and watch only to hear and "blah blah won a trilling race at Fairyhouse today" At 70odd years of age he never stood a chance to get to the remote control to mute him.

If ye are from derry well gerry is seen as hit or miss. It was him that coined the phrase 'stroke city', which was widley unpopular..........until recently when every nationalist politician endorses 'derry-londonderry'

Mandela and Zuma were co-founders of the 'Umkhonto we Sizwe' or spear of the nation and was the armed wing of the ANC mostly geared towards sabotage of government installations, but no doubt some people ended up dead somewhere along the line.
Considering what the white supremacists were up to at the same time the word terrorist would need re-defining in some parts of the world as we only know too well here.

Well he is a bit hyper i'll grant you that a bit like an English version of Hector but I'd reckon he'd be good craic if you we're out or a few pints with him. However this thread is about public figures that everyone likes so as you clearly dislike him he has to go. Keeping on the cricket theme therefore what about Ian Botham. Just one other thing if anyone even thinks about putting up any of the Top Gear presenters or Bono don't
Richard Hammond.
In fairness I was thinking of excluding him from the Top Gear ban as he's not the worst of them
