last 8 of championship
1 Connaught ( there has to be at least one)
1 leinster ( they have to allow one of these in as well)
2 munster ( 2 good teams, will always be there)
4 Ulster ( under current set up we are only allowed a max of 5 teams, otherwise all 8 could be from ULSTER)
Should Ulster be split in 2, is it too strong? On this evidence yes. Add to this, if armagh had their shooters with them in galway they would have won, and would likely then have beaten cork meaning all 4 teams coming through back door were from Ulster.
A well as that, down, derry and fermanagh were all only knocked out by fellow ulster teams, otherwise they would also be there. Down and Derry would still give any of the last 8 a big game.
Which leaves antrim as our only shite team, but they were knocked out by louth who are nearly in Ulster anyway. But antrim are a hurling superpower so that's ok, we'll let them at it.
Still think it's kerry's sam this year though
We will see how many Ulster teams will be left after next weekend?
And sadly not a single one of them plays football that's remotely exciting for the neutral to watch. With your own county Armagh starting this negative trend.
For shame, orchardman.

Armagh never did anything wrong, we played it tough and fair, kernan's team were proper men.
Donegal as well, i like their style of play, too much yapping from the rest of the country, jealousy.
Tyrone are only one's with any sneaky stuff, like what they did at the end against meath last ngt was disgusting

2 id say
Only one nordie team. 8)
Cavan struggle against London
Tyrone struggle against Roscommon
Armagh beaten by Galway
Leinster and Ulster get more teams to start off with, therefore they have more chances of teams surviving until the last 8.
Leinster were also in attendance at the darts championship.
Spoiler alert

Can't argue with that.
You have to admit Ulster has been good at dominating each other. Cavan knocking out Derry and Fermanagh. Derry Knocking out Down. Louth knocked out Antrim. Armagh lost to Galway. So you are left with Monaghan who beat Ulster teams to reach the QF. You have Cavan who beat Ulster teams and London to reach the QF. You have Donegal who beat Ulster teams and Laois to reach the QF. Finally Tyrone beat the trend with Offaly, Roscommon, Kildare and Meath

I think our football is great to watch. I can't stand watching Dublin, it's like watching a bunch of hyperactive children in a schoolyard & gives me a headache

I'm not having that. Kernan's Armagh lads were the originators of the late hit on the man releasing the ball.

Dublin weren't exactly playing free flowing football when Pat Gilroy took over.
Going off on a tangent Cavan are now the 8th Ulster team to reach a QF.Only 6 out of 11 from Leinster have.
Ulster have provided 20 out of the 52 QFinalists who have came through the back door which is the best of any province relative to its size.

Actually 4 out of 5 from Connacht have reached the QF. We are only one out as well. :P
Yis haven't let Ulster down, yis have let yourselves down.
I love Ulster football because its so competitive and intense. I'm in Belfast quite a bit through work and in laws and follow Antrim quite a bit too. It's very enjoyable.
I also follow Sligo and can see at first hand that Connacht football has been on a downward spiral for a few years now.
My main grievance is Munster as Cork and Kerry p*ss through every year and end up in the quarter finals by right of passage. Stick them in Ulster and you wouldn't see as much of them every August
When I saw the draw on Sat I thought there's another year now where Kerry can get to the AI semis with a very easy run of games. They basically played well for 35 mins v Cork 2nd team.

It takes all sorts, I suppose. The new Casement needs men like you.

This coming from a Connachtman is madness, where London made it through to the provincial final. I will agree Kerry and Cork stroll through Munster every year but this is of their own accord. This year for example Kerry annihilated Waterford by 26 points in Killarney, this same Waterford team should have beaten Galway in Salthill who ended up knocking a strong Ulster team in Armagh out and who almost beat Cork. Tipperary also barely lost to Galway while loosing to Kerry by 16 points. In 2011 Limerick also lost heavily to Kerry and ended up bouncing back and beating a Wexford team who lost narrowly in the Leinster Final to eventual All-Ireland winners Dublin. Munster is weak but it is very much as a result of Kerry and Corks strength.

I already had my fun with this thread.
There was never going to be any more than 2 ulster teams in the semi's really, so we now have one instead, is that really a big deal?
I don't think tyrone are the best of the last 4, and i dont want them to win it, but my point still clearly stands, we have by far the best stretch of teams in the country.
Certainly have the most mid-ranking teams but in the second biggest province that isn't a major boast.
With all this Ulster dominance i think i'll have a look at how Connacht football are doing this year.
Mayo seniors into the All Ireland semi final and current All Ireland favourites
Galway U-21 All Ireland champions
Mayo and Roscommon into All Ireland minor semi finals
St Brigids Senior All Ireland club champions
Ballinasloe Junior All Ireland club champions
Not bad at all 8)

No, but where is the dominance?, Should the title not be
Ulster have allot of middle of the road teams, which makes it a evenly competitive province?

With 9 teams and only 1 team in the Semis, surely that is below average.

Also useful to be able to distinguish between Connacht First Round and Connacht semi finals since the addition of the overseas powers. Running Cavan scared?? jasus man you must have had the chinos well soiled after 20 minutes yesterday at that rate.
