Really fancy Harrington this week,he has been playing very well lately and I get the feeling he has being building up to this one all season.
Tiger after winning a few tournaments lately too and could also be in with a shout.
My picks
P Harrington 18/1
Tiger Woods 9/1
Jason Dufner 40/1

Aye Harrington has definitely found some form and has Major pedigree. Would say the weather will cut up roug at some point and a lot of column inches printed on the thickness of the rough. Might favour a homegrown winner but if was going for a longer odds e/w punt I'd go Kuchar or Stricker.
Would like to see Westwood win it but needs to find some form with the putter.
Not wasting any more money backing Westwood in majors.
he will probably romp to victory in this one now....

O'Neill's faith in DC was paid last year! Westwood has the game to win it so I'm having a wee punt on him and maybe Stricker.
The course should be set up perfectly for Westwood and Donald. Westwood in particular is always thereabouts in Majors and I reckon he'll go close.
I can't see Padraig winning. This course is about driving accuracy, not scrambling ability.
My small stakes are on Garcia, Dustin Johnston and Siem. But I'd a longlist of 15 or so.
we play a pick five for the majors, 4 pound each way. odds from PP
predictables:
poulter 40-1
mcdowell 33-1
outsiders:
fisher 66-1
lawrie 66-1
punt:
calcavecchia 400-1

Went e/w with following (PP paying e/w on top 7 places):
Westwood 15/1
Kuchar 50/1
Cabrera 200/1
It's a lost cause, Declan. When you have Irish people, even self-styled "republicans", referring to "the queen" you know you might as well give up and let them at it as they look forward the "the boat race" or some promotion of "the RFU" or "the FA" on the mainland.
Michael Hoey at 200/1 could be the underdog bet, proven Links winner and actually played the last open here as a amateur.

He wont make the cut!
I fancy a rank outsider to win it, as such i have backed five players at 50/1 or more to win the thing.
Hope woods fails to make the cut and any Irishman will do me as a winner. ;D
I have GB and Ireland Vs the USA for 20$ with the boss.
Top Ten finishes - 1st place = 10 points etc all the way down to 10th place.
Have to fancy my chances with that.

Wouldnt be so sure Puck
Going back last 10 years you would have lost 6-4
Last time at this course in 2001 you would have tied 15-15
1996 at same course you would have lost 33-7
and in 1988 you would have lost 15-11.
That's a good competition though..
Hoey cruising at +6 thru 12 and currently last...
Donald 20/1
D Johnson E/W 50/1
Lehman E/W 200/1
I reckon Lehman's a good shout. He's been in good form on the Seniors Tour and has won the Open at RLSA in 1996.
Looks like Tiger's in the mood early doors though :(
The Big Puddin defending his title in style.
Done Kuchar, Oosthuizen, Molinari and Potter Jr!
Would be good to see Rory and Paddy coming out playing as well as G Mac

Yes, he'd better watch himself. 4 or 5 poor holes and some tough ones to come.
Mickleson gone barring a miracle +6.
Cut projected at +2. McIlroy +1 on 17th and in the bunker (which is full of water)
Bogey at 17. +2
75 for McIlroy. +2. Should be OK.
McIlroy +5, some of the chat about him after last years US Open seems a bit premature now.

:D I actually thought Rossies bet did come up that day. I read rossies post as -9 rather than +9 . Didn't see any of the golf the 1st day no wonder people were looking at me like i had 3 heads when i was telling them that hoey was the 1st round leader.

Last group too so if he makes a decent start Scott might start feeling some heat. Would have been a big final day if Tiger had made some inroads yesterday.

Some very poor Golf on show today.
Scott could go 2 or 3 over today and still win.

Gmac was v poor there, seen Scott miss his birdie and failed to put any pressure on him. Adam Scott getting a free ride, if he was forced to tackle the course like snedecker tried and failed to do he would be falling down the leaderboard.

What a bad shot from GMac that's him out of the tournament I would say.
Els making a go of it but probably too far behind.
No one gonna catch Scott now.
Been a pretty poor final round.
The heat could be on Scott now!
Fcuk me Els birds the last and is only 1 behind!
Scott with 17 & 18 to play!
Scott in trouble on 17. Might not even go to a play off!
Paddypower had him at 1/100 when he teed off at 16 he is now 4/6!
Some turnaround in 2 holes, couldn't see it happening.
Amazing it's all level!
Scott now needs to par the last to only get in a playoff! He was 4 shots clear 3 holes ago.
He's well rocked, but should be able to par 18. Tee shot crucial!
Can see him winnin the playoff, if he gets that far.

I think McIlroy started his meltdown with the tee shot on the 10th, he was out of it in 2 or 3 holes, long before he reached the 18th.
Unbelievable win for Els, made all the sweeter by the fact that I had a few quid on him!! That's 2 40/1 winners and 1 80/1 winner I have had in the 3 majors this year. Good run bound to end some time soon.
