Anyone bought any of these devices? Looking to get one for a 3 year old, but not sure what the big differences are between the two.
I'd also have an interest in the topic. 4 year old was very interested in these in Smyths when we took him on a scouting mission.
And a green sword that he hasn't stopped talking about since - in fact it was a Star wars lightsabre that cost almost 50 notes and would be smashed in about 50 seconds against some wall :D
Had serious hassle finding the Leappad - gave up and bought the Leapfrog Explorer instead
Got an email yesterday to say that the Leappad was back in so I bought it also. From reading up on it, I think the Leappad is best of the lot - though everyone will have their own ideas. Will left you know in the New Year as to how the LeapPad gets on
http://www.squidoo.com/innotab-vs-leappad (http://www.squidoo.com/innotab-vs-leappad)
Alot of info here on both.
Took a read at that this morning and they seem much the same really, with big differences being the camera (LeapPad) and you can buy an AC Adaptor for one of them (Innotab) too instead of relying on batteries.
Santas bringing the wee girl a leappad this year. She already had the leapster. Great selection of games and very educational.
Getting the wee girl a Leappad, you could be doing well getting your hands on either of them. Read yesterday people were selling the Argos reservation number on EBay for £35.
Beyond the pale.
Buy them an iPad 2 and don't be so f**king miserable.
Amazon doing them for 80 quid. Free delivery!

Both would do the job well, only thing I would say is that unless they are closer to 4 than 3 it might be a bit forward for them.
Would you be as well setting these things up b4 Christmas? Is there much to it?

Been on Amazon and they seem to be a lot more than £80.
They seem to be in short supply alright - Argos not have them it seems anyway. Sent the woman off to hunt one down round the local larger townstores - Smyths, etc
Is this this years must have? Cabbage Patch Doll of 2011?

Didn't think they were until this thread popped up yesterday, asked one of the women in the office about them and she said "sold out" everywhere apparently. She'd be a drama queen anyway but thought it better to get looking.

Have been ringing about myself and Argos are all out across thw Country. Found somewhere that has a few and going to head after work to get one.
Got a lecture from a fella at Toys'r'us when I called yesterday asking if they had any. "Sir - you need to realise this is the hottest toy of 2011, we are expecting a toy shipment tonight - but I don't have the contents manifest - but I suggest you are standing outside at 8am tomorrow when we open if you want to have a chance at getting one".

Straight to ebay with it Puck ;) Weepuck will do with a ball.
DONT BOTHER WITH ANY OF THEM - GO STRAIGHT FOR THE NINTENDO DSI - BOUGHT THEM YOKES AND THEY WERE A WASTE OF MONEY - WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS THE KIDS WERE LOOKING FOR NINTENDOS!

By all accounts Amazon and Toys R Us websites are getting stock in regular and then its selling out, so just have to keep checking. Not much chance of them hitting the shelves though it seems, Smyths say no chance. If i see one online I'll drop you a PM or just buy 2! Green or Pink? :)

its like the great Tellytubby search back in the day
Christmas is saved! Purchased on Toys R Us this morning.
Sent a PM to nrico2006 but no reply yet if you are out there.
Leap Pad is in stock in Early Learning Centre website.
Downloaded a few apps the other day. Why is their an app centre as well as cartridges? Are the cartridges for games that are too sophisticated or are the cartridges simply for the console before the tablet?

No idea, I thought it was that you could get one or the other with more Apps available online than cartridges.
Must say my wee lad loves his and has had great entertainment from it, will get him a few more games/apps down the line.

Same here, she thinks its class. She will get a lot of use out of it over the next few years. Thanks to Santas little helper in Monaghan.
What age are your wee ones - my wee one is 4 in June and might get it for her birthday..

My wee lad was 4 in November. He hardly looked at it xmas morning but that evening when the dust had settled he disappeared into a corner for a hour or so with it and had a good play with it and knows his way round it now. Some great tools and stuff on it.
My wee girl just turned 3 and we just packed it back in its box to re issue again for her birthday. She gave more attention to the other toys on christmas so maybe she is a bit young for it
Perfect I'll get it for her birthday, cheers.
Aye they are a great job (Leap Pad Explorer), my wee girl is 5. Leap Pad Explorer is hard on the batteries though, as i believe the Innotab is too. If you have an old AC Adapter kicking about the house it will also charge it.
These machines are poison. Let them go and watch TV in their bedrooms.
My 10 year old nephew ended up in A&E three times, with pains in his limbs, turns out he was cramping up with the intensity of playing one of those war games on ps needless to say he is restricted to the amount of time on the playstation now.
Anyone recommedn any really good apps or games their wains are playing on this? Hard to find any kind of rated list of the best ones available.
