Title: Transferring Euros to Sterling account
Post by: The Worker on June 21, 2011, 10:52:18 PM
I am starting work in ROI soon, and will be getting paid into euros.

Does anyone know the best way (i.e. the account with least fees) to transfer euro balances to a UK sterling account?

Thanks

There was a thread about this before. I think that NIB/Northern Bank worked well.

Give your employer your bank account number, the sterling one, and get him to pay your wages directly into it and let him pay the charges. Your employer is obliged to give you a payslip and pay your wages into a nominated account, and, if you request, into a pension scheme bank account,  Thats how us Mexicans operate anyway.

I used the NIB and Northern bank to overcome this problem when I was in the South.  The two banks are both owned by Danske bank and there is no charge for transferring money cross border.
