I have a toilet that won't flush. I replaced a broken flush siphon and now the bowl fills up and then drains out too slowly to flush anything away. It's a fairly complicated problem that I think has to do with the flush mechanism - not a blockage or anything. If anyone thinks they can help, I'll describe it in detail. I asked a plumber about it and he hadn't a clue, at which point I realised I should have come to the gaaboard first.
Amusing responses welcome, as long as they're funny.
Crap situation.

I was thinking along the lines of "dumping his problem on us" or something to that effect.
That would drive you round the u bend
Stop taking the piss lads.

My advice would be to speak to a better plumber.
Shit one. Crap and a bag and throw across the fence into the neighbours garden.
Sounds like you have whats called a syphonic toilet which is a fairly old flushing process & unless you replace the syphon with a proper syphonic type syphon to suit you toilet it won't flush properly, if you have the old syphon try & find a brand name on it, fitting an ordinary syphon to a syphonic toilet is a waste of time.

That sounds spot on, mournerambler, based on the symptoms.
is it a close coupled toilet as in the cistern sitting on top off the bowl or is there a pipe between it if ther is the may be debri stuck in it

Thanks bf. It's close-coupled. I'm pretty sure it's not a blockage. I think mournerambler is on the money - I expected it was something like this, from descriptions on Wiki of siphoning toilets. I just thought they were American and that it was unlikely we'd have them here, but it seems we do from what mournerambler says. Now if I can just find out where to buy the right siphon.
There I was thinking you only typed excessive shite
You must have missed my appeal for amusing responses.
Did Indeed Hardy you didn't exclude factual ones however
Once again the gaaboard comes through when all else fails. No plumber or plumber's supplier had a clue what I was on about until mournerambler told me exactly what I needed and where to look for it - got it sorted after that.

mournerambler likes this :D
I have a pressurised water system. The pressure was constantly dropping to 0 and I was having to top it up with pressure often. Last night myself and another fella went around the house to check for a leak. Found it in the burner outside the house so happy enough with that result. However he turned the pressure relief value in the cylinder- it's a Warmflow cylinder- and now it won't stop dumping water. Been running all night. How do I stop this? Is it just a matter of turning off the water coming into the house and waiting?
Any advice would be welcomed.
Hardy comes out of the (water) closet.

I have a pressurised system and would regulary have to top up the pressure aswell. I was told when I got it in taht it should only need doing once or twice a year. But I'm finding myself doing it every 3-4 weeks. Is this normal or should I be looking for a leak aswell?
I done a good bit of reading up on it in recent weeks and apparently you should never really have to top up your system. Finding leaks is hard. We found mine out in the burner, the opposite side of the side that it opens. The thing was the drop in pressure was knocking off my burner whereby I would have to go out and manually reset it.
