Title: Shamrock Rovers manager does a bad act !!!!
Post by: Thewhataboutery on April 17, 2011, 11:47:15 AM
Found this on a forum

In a fit or anger as he walked off the pitch tonight he kicked a ball with full force towards the tunnel, Unfortunately for him it hit James (our super mascot who has down syndrome) with full force and hurt him badly. He saw what happened and continued on into the dressing room. Apparently after it was said to him by some press or players in the dressingroom he came out and started saying sorry to me, so I made him aware that James is fully aware of his surroundings (as any of you who have ever spoken to him will know) and he should say sorry to him. He then shook his hand and said sorry. He then turned to me and said that Bohs were **** and that rovers dominated the game. He said and I quote'sure you only scored from a corner'. My reply of course was 'so did you'. He lost the head completely and was dragged away by one of the coaching staff whilst spitting fire towards me.
In fairness, I have got a few messages, indirectly, of goodwill from rovers players and staff who were appalled at his behavior.
James was very upset all the way home and so were his parents on seeing the bruising.
I hope you are proud of yourself Michael O'Neill.

I took that piece from a forum this morning.
Nothing more than I`d expect from the leader of that bunch.

Dublin fella what do you have to say for yourself

Is this actually true? I wouldn't consider a Bohs website to be a useful source for anything regarding Shamrock Rovers.

(Incidentally, I expect I'll be accused of sweeping this under the carpet :P)

And vice versa. We can safely presume that it's horse dung.
Thewhataboutery was not fully satisfied By Sligo Rovers assuming the title of the team they call Rovers, after last years cup final victory.

what makes you think I give a rashers about this?

Had a read of it on boards.ie and it appears he randomly kicked the ball towards the tunnel, hit the kid and immediately apologised. From the look of it the rest is random internet exaggeration.

Shamrock Rovers  ::)

What's the occasion? Can they see Eoin O'Duffy in the distance and they're giving him his usual salute?

he scale of the alleged or actual crime is much different, but how is this any different to what dublinfella posted last week?

so according to a bohs supporter the above happened.  If it's proved to be true I'm sure the actions stem back to O'Neill's formative years playng for The All Saints GAA club in Ballymena (according to Drici? he even won a few honours with them in their all conquering team of the late 80's).  As Wellington would say, you can take a man from the gaa, but you can't take the gaa ruffian out of the man.

I think it's time the gaa did something about this tbh, this really has serious repercussions for the future of the gaa in ireland imo, no more hiding our heads in the sand and pretending this sort of thing isn't common place amongst ex-players.

I don't understand the obsession with dublinfella, as if what he posts is empowered.
Garbage is garbage whether Dublinfella or Whataboutme writes it

Yes. Another example is ex-GAA player Gerry Armstrong disgracefully marrying a bird half his age for only one thing. Down with this sort of thing!

But he was made apologoise which i think is fair to the same as not apologising at all. Would you have no shame that the 'leader' of your club does an act like this and walks away. This would never happen in the GAA we don't do this to kids can't imagine any of the gaelic football manager doing this and being chased to apologise to a child. It's another reason why people Shamrock Rovers our losing interest in you. Drop in season ticket sales is probably ordinary people are seeing what the ring leaders of the club are like.

I never knew that, but it doesn't surprise me at all.

Since removal of the ban we've seen all sorts of thuggery and shenanigans in soccer that weren't there before.  A prime example id former Dublin star Kevin Moran, he switched codes and is most famous for being the first player sent off in an FA Cup final.  In fact, red cards were only introduced into soccer as a direct result of the influx of players from gaelic games.  It's time to act now.

This thread has a Hamlet without the Prince feel to it. Not enough of GAA bashing in it to really entice the beast from his lair.

Yip, he definitely did. Might even have scored the winning goal when they beat the Johnnies in the Antrim senior championship.

Late 80s, good side they had then too. McAtamney, a rake of McCanns, Timmy Connolly, Mickey McVeigh, Barney Lynn. There may be a poster better qualified than me to comment though, bannside?
