A colleague in work is raising money for one of these charity treks abroad. She's got her hands on a Tyrone football shirt signed by the 2008 Championship squad. Would Tyrone fans still think this is worth buying a raffle ticket for, or has the moment passed?
I'd buy a ticket ;D

If she wants a holiday abroad tell her to book one in Thomas Cooks ;-)
people would still buy a ticket if it was say top prize at an event, say as in a raffle in the middle of something,im sure everyone there would buy a ticket
Yeah, people would still like to win it. Bit like a signed Norn Iron top by Healy from the England game a few years back.
Yip... would like to have that especially as there could be imminent retirements from top players in that squad.
i'd buy a ticket,
much better a raffle than an auction!
how much are the tickets?

They definitely have dropped in value in the case of auctions as they were ten-a-penny for a good while there. There's just so many of them about. Raffle is probably the right way to go. Even so, I don't think the moment has passed though as the more time that passes the more it'll be appreciated, given it was a vintage year for Tyrone.
I'd buy a book of tickets

It certainly wiped Kerry eyes in '08.
In my experience people by raffle tickets for the cause. It matters little what the prize is.
I would by one.

Off topic...but .....reminds me of a yarn about the daughters that got the internal plumbing sorted out for the aged father who lived on his own back west.....when it was sorted they told him he would be able to go to the toilet inside....sez he..."Twould take a wild hard man to shite in his own house".
Told my colleague yesterday that I'd conducted an in depth survey on the GAA Board ;) and that the consensus was that the shirt would still be worth raffling. I don't think her heart's in it, though. She'd need other prizes to make it worthwhile, it can be tricky enough to organise, etc. I think it'll sit in her drawer gathering dust for the next lot of months. If somebody on here wanted to make a reasonable offer for the shirt, either to keep or to auction for club funds, I think she'd be glad to hand it over. The guy who gave her the shirt in the first place is a Tyrone GAA committee member whose name appears in this book:
http://www.tyronegaa.ie/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Tyrone-Contacts-Book-2009.pdf
He works for the same organisation as my colleague and me and I'm sure he'd be happy to take a phone call from anybody who wanted to buy the shirt, but maybe wanted to confirm the authenticity of the signatures. PM me if you're interested.
You're very concerned about your "colleague".

"Interesting" post, particularly the "way" you use "speechmarks".
