As the Armagh v Down thread is up and running, might as well get this one going ;)

I'd say Monaghan and their new management will be delighted with this. It'll really help them focus. They feel like they really let themselves down and that they have a lot to prove. Monaghan would do well to remember that it's a first round game and keep their eye on the prise.

Tyrone beat Monaghan in 2009 and 2010. Can't see why 2011 should be any different.

I agree.  But I think that the only way to get the bit between the teeth, get the eye of the tiger as Apollo said, is to lose in Ulster and go the back door route.  No point in sauntering to an Ulster title and not being prepared for a battle hardened team in the quarters.

Any ideas on the retirements? I'm sure decisions won't be made til nearer the time but I find it hard to believe Dooher will be back. There was rumours about Ricey as well. I suppose you could throw BmG, SoN, McCullagh, Gormley as potentials as well.
Alot of boys with a lot of miles on the clock there. They'll be hard to replace if any do call it a day. But hopefully we've now got a few more younger boys coming through. I'd expect Harte to become a starter this year and hopefully Coney will make a bigger impression.

What new faces can we expect to see come McKenna Cup and League time?

I have been living outside the County for a few years now, therefore I am not completely up to speed with the personnel available within the county.  I suppose what I am getting at is who are the players that could potentially make a difference that currently are not involved?  We need scoring forwards with pace and the right attitude, who are the best in the County coming through?  How good is Daisy McDermott, Gareth Devlin or Kyle Coney?  What about recent Under 21 stars, namely Finbar Magill or Johnny Lafferty?  Whatever happened to underage star Ronan McCrory?

Regarding the midfield, I think this area needs sorted now.  For too long it seems that we have been resigned to losing the midfield battle game in game out, its about time we became more dominant in this area.  I know Cassidy performed well when fit last year and hopefully he can get a bit of luck this year, avoid injury and make one of the spots his.  I honestly don't believe for one minute that in Tyrone we do not have a few big men who can field a ball and play a bit too, but who are the realistic contenders to help with the midfield issue?  I have heard names mentioned before (i.e. McConville, Rouse, Ronan Lafferty), but what is the general concencus on these and the other contenders?

5 of the players mentioned there simply arent good enough. Dont know much about Ronan Lafferty and havent saw Johnny Lafferty play in a few yers. Coney should make it hopefully next year.

Anyone looking for massive change in 2011 will be sorely dissapointed I reckon. Peter Harte, Coney and Cassidey the main challengers for a start.

Cass and Cav jnr will be the MF until young mcKenna puts on a few pounds. Apart from that plus ca change.

We'd a great night at Drumbo, sold the place out.

Patsy's not quite 70, not for a while yet. He was given a bit of a headstart but held on. He'd prepared well. It was a good moneyspinner and think Drumbo got a few ideas from us.

You Tyronies love a good natter and spreading the gossip out thin and wide.

Only another 7 months of this gripping exciting drama.
