I did not get a chance to watch TG4 today, but it looks like a very good win for Tipperary. Looking forward to watching the tape tonight. 2-16 to 0-9 sounds fairly impressive. This was Tipp's first win in the Senior Championship for quite a few years. Congrats. to Mairead Morrissey and her team.

TYRONE bounced back from their Ulster Championship disappointment with a comprehensive victory against Leitrim in Sunday's TG4 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship round one qualifier at Shannon Gaels, Cavan.
The Red Left Hands, provincial champions in 2009, hammered the Westerners by 6-22 to 2-9 as cousins Lynda and Cathy Donnelly scored four goals between them.
Cathy scored a remarkable individual tally of 3-6 while Lynda netted in the 25th minute as Tyrone, beaten TG4 All-Ireland quarter-finalists last year, went on a real goal spree.
Tyrone lost to Armagh in the last series of round-robin matches in the Ulster championship and were anxious to atone for that disappointment as they faced into the All-Ireland series.
At half-time, Leitrim found themselves 1-4 to 4-12 in arrears as Cathy Donnelly hit two first half goals for Tyrone, with Linda Donnelly and Aisling O'Kane also raising green flags.
Two minutes into the second half, Cathy Donnelly completed her hat-trick of goals before O'Kane, who contributed 2-3 in total, scored her second goal in the 52nd minute.
Leitrim's top scorer on the day was Áine Tighe, who was superb during her county's successful Division 4 National League campaign.
Tighe, who scored 1-4, scored a 38th minute goal while Eimear McGlade hit Leitrim's first half goal in the 20th minute.
Tyrone will be joined in Monday's round two qualifier draw by Kildare, who cruised to a comfortable 4-13 to 1-9 victory against Down at Fingallians, Swords, on Saturday evening.
After a tight opening, Kildare moved 3-5 to 0-6 clear at half-time before Siobhán Hurley bagged a fourth goal for the Lilywhites early in the second half.
Down's consolation goal came with the last kick of the game as Emma Mulhern converted a penalty.

Senior Football Championship Round 1 Qualifiers
KERRY and Tipperary recorded impressive victories in round 1 of the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Qualifiers on Monday before the winners received tough round 2 matches.
All eyes were on Mayo following their recent reinstatement in the SFC but the Westerners bowed out in their first match as Kerry scored a 0-12 to 1-08 victory in the first match of a double-header in Banagher.
Cora Staunton scored 1-6 for Mayo but it wasn't enough to defeat Kerry, who had a six-point haul from leading scorer Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh.
The first half was closely contested and level five times before the sides went in deadlocked at the interval, 0-5 apiece.
Staunton netted two minutes after the break with a smart finish but Kerry responded in brilliant style with a run of six unanswered points to surge 0-11 to 1-5 in front.
That scoring burst provided the platform for victory as the Kingdom held off a late rally from Mayo to clinch a famous one-point victory.
In the second game at the Offaly venue, Tipperary produced a brilliant attacking performance to crush Meath by 2-16 to 0-09.
Full-forward Patricia Hickey scored 2-4 while former Allstar Edel Hanley kicked seven points for the Premier County.
At half-time, Tipp were eight points clear, 1-08 to 0-03 as Hickey notched 1-4 in the first half.
Elaine Duffy offered some resistance for Meath with a seven-point haul but Hickey's second goal, set up by impressive substitute Gillian O'Brien, settled this tie as a contest midway through the second half.

Senior Championship Round 2 Qulaifiers
Armagh 2-07 Kerry 1-19
Armagh Ladies interest in the 2010 championship was ended after a defeat by a more efficient Kerry side in Athlone. Once again a failure to get out of the traps cost Armagh dearly; Kerry were eight points up before Armagh had even registered a score after 20 minutes.
Louise Ni Mhuirceartaigh terrorised the Armagh defence from the start and she opened the scoring for her side after a good piece of direct football from the Kingdom. Patrice Denehy, Lorraine Scanlon, Ni Mhuirceartaigh and Mags O'Donoghue all added scores before Mags McAlinden got Armagh off the mark with a point after 20 minutes. Kerry had the perfect response when nippy corner forward Saragh Houlihan bagged herself a goal but finally the game cracked into life when Maria O'Donnell responded with an Armagh goal following a great delivery by Caroline O'Hanlon.
O'Donnell was on the mark again minutes later, showing a great piece of individual skill to work herself into a position to score another goal. Kerry were much more fluid in attack and found scores much easier to come by. They finished the half with a flourish with points from O'Donoghue, Ni Mhuirceartaigh (2) and Lorraine Scanlon.
Fionnula McKenna earned Armagh a free which Caroline O'Hanlon converted to keep the score board ticking over, leaving Armagh facing a half time deficit of 2-2 to 1-12.
Aoibheann McKenna made a good impact on her introduction setting Maria O'Donnell up for the opening score of the second half. Debra Murphy replied in kind for Kerry before the fulcrum of their attack, Louise Ni Mhuirceartaigh was sinbinned. Despite being reduced to 14 players Kerry pushed on with a spectacular point by Louise Galvin extending their advantage. Mags McAlinden pulled one back for Armagh and the Orchard began to lift their game. Only an excellent piece of goal keeping from Edel Murphy denied the Orchard a third goal and Marian McGuinness reduced the gap to seven with a fine point.
Sarah Houlihan had the last say of the half with a hat trick of points cancelling scores by Maria O'Donnell and Kelly Mallon. It left the score reading 1-19 to 2-07 in favour of Kerry. Although it was disappointing to exit the championship after showing only glimpses of their potential it was the same failure to start the game strongly that cost Armagh as it has so often this year.
Ladies football action will continue in the county with the upcoming county finals on 28th and 29th August.

KERRY and Clare completed the quarter-final line-up for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship with comfortable Round 2 qualifier victories on Sunday.
Kerry followed up their notable win against Mayo last Monday by accounting for beaten Ulster finalists Armagh on a 1-19 to 2-7 scoreline at Páirc Chiaráin, Athlone.
And in Claughaun on Sunday evening, Clare repeated their Munster championship victory against Tipperary as they defeated the Premier County by 2-15 to 0-9.
Sarah Houlihan notched 1-5 for the Kerry and Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh added 0-5 as the Kingdom booked a place in the last eight of the competition.
At half-time, Kerry were well in control as they led by 1-12 to 2-2.
Maria O'Donnell scored two first half goals for the Orchard County but Kerry had a good spread of scorers as Houlihan bagged 1-1 before half-time as Ní Mhuircheartaigh helped herself to five points.
Ní Mhuircheartaigh was sin-binned in the second half but Armagh couldn't take advantage of the extra player and Kerry cruised to a comfortable win.
At Claughaun, Clare produced a strong second half performance to see off Tipperary, who had looked most impressive against Meath last Monday.
Rachel Lenihan's first half goal helped Clare to lead by 1-7 to 0-7 at the break before the Banner County pulled away in the second period, helped by a 1-1 haul from Eimear Considine.
Tipp lost their way in the second half and Clare, inspired by the outstanding Niamh O'Dea, were much more economical in front of goal as they clinched a 12-point win.
On Saturday, Tyrone and Laois proved far too good for Sligo and Kildare respectively in a double-header at Cusack Park, Mullingar.
A six-day turnaround proved too much for beaten Connacht finalists Sligo to deal with as they were hammered by a rejuvenated Tyrone on a 5-20 to 2-7 scoreline.
And Laois, runners-up to Dublin in the Leinster decider, hit back with a 3-13 to 1-11 victory against provincial rivals Kildare.

TYRONE and Laois booked their places in the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship with comfortable round 2
qualifier victories on Saturday.
A six-day turnaround proved too much for beaten Connacht finalists Sligo
to deal with as they were hammered by a rejuvenated Tyrone on a 5-20 to
2-7 scoreline.
Laois, runners-up to Dublin in the Leinster decider, hit back with a
3-13 to 1-11 victory against provincial rivals Kildare in the second
match of a double-header at Cusack Park, Mullingar.
Based on Saturday's evidence, Tyrone could yet emerge as championship
dark horses and have regrouped well after coughing up the provincial
crown they won in 2009.
The Red Hands demolished Leitrim in round 1 of the qualifiers last
weekend and they ran riot against Sligo as Western opposition was put to
the sword once again.
Sarah Connolly helped herself to a hat-trick of goals, including two in
the first half as Tyrone went on to lead by 3-12 to 0-4 at the break.
Aisling O'Kane hit Tyrone's other first half goal before player of the
match Gemma Begley (penalty) and Connolly raised the green flags in the
second half.
Stephanie O'Reilly and Jackie Mulligan did find the net for Sligo in the
second half but they were consolation scores as the Yeats County bow out
of the TG4 championship.
Meanwhile, a 2-4 haul from player of the match Tracy Lawlor helped
Laois, managed by former county star Joe Higgins, on their way to a
nine-point success against Kildare.
The crucial score was Lawlor's first goal in the final minute of the
first half as the midfielder's speculative free bounced off the
unfortunate Aisling Savage and ended up in the back of the net.
Some confusion surrounded the first half tally racked up by Laois but it
was finally confirmed as 1-9 as Kildare responded with 0-4 by the midway
point.
Kildare hit back with a Tracy Noone early in the second half but Laois
were back in firm control of the game when Aisling Kehoe netted a superb
44th minute goal to hand the winners a 2-11 to 1-5 lead.
Lawlor added a second goal late in the game but it was another
fortuitous effort as Kildare goalkeeper Aisling O'Donovan could only
parry a long-range free into her own net.

TWO of the four semi-finalists in this year's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship were confirmed last Saturday.
Leinster champions Dublin and Munster surprise packets Kerry advanced to the last four with hard-fought quarter-final victories at Banagher.
Dublin, beaten All-Ireland finalists last year, had to dig really deep against beaten Munster finalists Clare before running out 2-18 to 2-12 winners in a hugely-entertaining game.
Earlier, Kerry had their remarkable run through the back door as captain Bernie Breen inspired a narrow 2-9 to 1-11 victory against Connacht champions Galway.
Sinead Ahern scored 2-4 for Dublin and player of the match Elaine Kelly added 0-4 as the Sky Blues booked their place in the last four.
At half-time, Dublin led by just a single point against Clare, 1-7 to 1-6, as the Jackies and the Banner County traded first half goals within two minutes of each other.
The teams were level three times in the opening sixteen minutes before Dublin were dealt a blow when full-back and Clare native Noelle Comyn was forced off with a knee injury.
Dublin's luck changed in the 19th minute when they were awarded a soft penalty for a foul on Orla Egan and Ahern made no mistake for her first goal.
Two minutes later, Clare hit back when their joint top scorer Eimear Considine took advantage of a Rachel Ruddy error, ran through on goal and buried her shot past Dublin's Allstar goalkeeper Cliodhna O'Connor.
A minute before the break, Clare were rocked by Michelle Delaney's sin-binning and that numerical advantage told for Dublin in the opening minutes of the second half as they reeled off five unanswered scores to move six points clear.
Clare, now 1-6 to 1-12 in arrears, hit back with two points before Dublin responded by raising three white flags in quick succession to move 1-15 to 1-8 clear.
Back came Clare with a fine goal from their other joint top scorer, Niamh O'Dea, in the 46th minute and two further points cut the gap back to just two points again.
With ten minutes remaining, Clare could have edged in front but Considine was denied by O'Connor's brilliant point blank save.
Three minutes later, the superb Ahern wriggled clear of two defenders before sending a low shot into the bottom corner, a score that effectively clinched victory for Dublin.
Dogged Clare hit back with two points from Niamh Keane and O'Dea, while Fiona Lafferty shot just wide, before Dublin closed out the game with scores from Ahern and Niamh Hurley to clinch a six-point win.
Meanwhile, Kerry held on by just a single point in the end against Connacht champions Galway.
There were four penalties awarded by match referee Joe Murray in this game, three successfully converted, while Galway's top scorer Una Carroll missed with 13 minutes remaining.
The sides were level twice in the early stages but by half-time, Kerry had established a 0-8 to 0-3 lead.
Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh landed four first half points for Kerry, who assumed almost complete control after the sides traded the opening four scores.
The scoreboard could have looked even better for the Kingdom at half-time but Sarah Houlihan dragged a shot narrowly wide in the 17th minute.
After scoring two points in the first eleven minutes, Galway managed just one more for the remainder of the half, as Carroll converted a 19th minute free.
The second half was punctuated by those four penalty awards and the first of those arrived five minutes into the second half, when Mags O'Donoghue bagged the first of her two goals for Kerry.
That goal handed the Kingdom an eight-point lead - 1-9 to 0-4 - before Galway launched a strong fightback.
Three unanswered points cut the gap back to five before Carroll's missed penalty in the 47th minute, after Sinead Burke was fouled.
Galway, despite that setback, kept on coming and two points from Kara Mullins brought the Westerners to within a goal - 0-9 to 1-9.
But Kerry assumed control again in the 53rd minute when O'Donoghue was successful again from the penalty spot, following a foul on Emma Sherwood.
Galway responded with points from Patricia Gleeson and Mullins before Dora O'Gorman scored an injury-time penalty for the Tribeswomen, which cut Kerry's winning margin to just a point.

That's some result, well done Tyrone. It should be remembered what a good team this Cork squad was, and still is. They've been a credit to the game and the GAA in general. Good to see there will be a new AI champion though.
great match but thought the referee was generous to Tyrone slightly!!
fair play on Tyrone though, 6 points down and there didn't seem to be any way back. i backed them at 6/1 only had a few quid on them but good value
Great win by Tyrone. Some achievement to beat Cork.
I counted 20 passes in that last move for Tyrone -
Brilliant stuff and a great win.
Well done.
Great results for the Tyrone Ladies today. As said above, to come back from 6 points down against a brilliant team like Cork, to win by 7 is an amazing result. Congratulations!

TYRONE blew the race for the All-Ireland Senior Football Fhampionship wide open at Banagher on Saturday as they claimed a famous quarter-final victory against All-Ireland champions Cork.
The Red Left Hands ran out 3-11 to 0-13 winners against the Leesiders, who had claimed the last five All-Ireland SFC titles.
This was a truly seismic result at the Offaly venue as Cork's dreams of a sixth successive crown were dashed in sensational style at the finish.
The Rebelettes finished the match with just 13 players as defenders Bríd Stack and Aisling Barrett received yellow cards and were sin-binned in the closing minutes.
With that numerical advantage, Tyrone bagged two late goals to clinch a memorable success as full-forward Sarah Connolly (57) and inspirational midfielder Sarah Donnelly (60) raised green flags for the Ulster outfit.
Remarkably, Cork had led by 0-11 to 0-5 at half-time, having reeled off six unanswered points before the interval.
The sides had been level at 0-5 apiece with 15 minutes on the watch but Cork cut loose with a clinical run of scores to open up a healthy advantage at the midway point.
Cork, however, were rocked in the first half when centre forward Ciara O'Sullivan and experienced defender Geraldine O'Flynn were forced off through injury.
And the rot really set in after half-time as Cork managed just two points in the entire second half - both from Valerie Mulcahy frees.
Tyrone set about eating into Cork's lead but didn't appear to be making much headway until Aisling O'Kane goaled with 13 minutes of normal time remaining.
Mulcahy hit back with a Cork free, her side's first score for 20 minutes, but points from Sarah Connolly and centre forward Gemma Begley brought Tyrone level at 1-10 to 0-13 with five minutes left.
Then, Cork's discipline left them down as first Stack and then Barrett were yellow-carded for fouls on Sarah Donnelly and Joline Donnelly respectively.
Connolly took advantage to goal from close range with three minutes remaining after Sarah Donnelly's shot struck an upright before Donnelly found the net herself in the final minute with an impressive finish past Elaine Harte.
Tyrone's reward for this stunning win is a semi-final meeting with championship surprise packets Kerry, while Dublin and Laois will meet in the other semi-final.
The Dublin-Laois clash is a repeat of the TG4 Leinster decider, which Dublin won, and the Sky Blues are now the only remaining provincial champions left in the All-Ireland series.
Before Tyrone sent shock waves through the ladies game,
Laois had put paid to Ulster champions Monaghan in the first game of a Banagher double-header.
Laois proved that momentum through the qualifiers counts for a lot as the O'Moore County secured a 0-12 to 0-9 victory against the beaten 2008 All-Ireland finalists.
At half-time, Laois led by 0-6 to 0-3 after the sides had been level three times in the opening twenty minutes.
Then, scores from captain Angela Casey, Mary Kirwin and dominant midfielder Tracey Lawlor helped Laois to a three-point half-time advantage.
It was a lead they would hold all the way to the finish and Monaghan never looked like finding a way through a resolute Laois defence, with Lorraine Muckian and Aisling Quigley particularly good in the full-back line.
Three minutes from time, and with Laois leading by 0-11 to 0-7, top scorer Noirin Kirwan sensibly popped over a penalty after the 21-year-old forward was fouled by Grainne McNally.
Sub Caoimhe Mohan and a strangely subdued Ciara McAnespie hit points in the final minute but they were mere consolation efforts as the O'Moore County booked their place in the last four for the first time in three years.

LAST year's runners-up Dublin came good towards the finish against Laois on Saturday to book their place in the All Ireland Senior Football Championship Final.
The Jackies now have the chance to make amends for last year's final defeat to Cork when they face Tyrone or Kerry at Croke Park on Sunday, September 26.
Dublin beat Laois for the second time in championship football this year, having also won the TG4 Leinster decider, and the Sky Blues showed true grit to pull a hard-fought All-Ireland semi-final out of the fire on a 1-8 to 0-9 scoreline.
Laois had a player of the match performance from Aileen O'Loughlin and after the inspirational midfielder kicked two first half points to help the O'Moore County lead by 0-4 to 0-2 at half-time, the game sparked to life in the second period.
As Dublin fought their way back after the restart, Laois were rocked by a yellow card for wing back Mags McEvoy but held firm nonetheless.
With 12 minutes remaining, Laois stormed three points clear as Tracey Lawlor grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and Dublin were badly in need of inspiration.
It arrived with just over seven minutes remaining when Lyndsey Davey netted a fine goal to put Dublin 1-6 to 0-8 clear at a crucial stage in proceedings.
In a dramatic finish, Laois responded with an equalising point from Gemma O'Connell but Allstar Sinead Ahern, quiet until then, exploded into life with a simply magnificent score with just over four minutes remaining.
Leinster champions Dublin then lost Lindsey Peat to a yellow card but the metropolitans still managed to notch the final score of the game as Ahern landed the insurance point.
Meanwhile, Waterford produced a powerful second half performance against Cavan to book their place in the All Ireland Ladies intermediate football final.
Cavan had beaten Waterford well in this year's Division 3 final but the tables were turned in emphatic fashion as the Déise came strong with a second half scoring burst to clinch their place in the final.
At Dr. Cullen Park in Carlow, midfielder Elaine Power secured the player of the match award after scoring 1-1 and her superb 18th minute goal helped Waterford to lead by 1-3 to 0-2 at half-time.
The early stages of the second half were closely contested and Cavan drew level at 0-10 to 1-7 with 12 minutes of playing time remaining.
Bronagh Sheridan scored the equalising point but it could so easily have been a goal as the Cavan forward spooned her shot over the bar after Waterford goalkeeper Amy Jordan had saved well from Clara Reilly.
That would prove to be Cavan's last score as Waterford, who had a superb attacking display from reeled off seven unanswered points without reply to clinch the win.
Cavan were also dealt a huge blow when wing-back Renee Murphy was stretchered off in obvious distress following a lengthy stoppage.
Elsewhere, the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies junior football finalists were confirmed as Limerick and Louth emerged victorious in their semi-finals.
Limerick, beaten finalists last year had a stunning 1-9 haul from leading forward Dymphna O'Brien on their way to a 1-12 to 0-8 victory against Wexford.
And two goals from Kate Flood helped Louth to overcome the stiff challenge of Derry on a 3-10 to 2-10 scoreline.

Actually was at the Dublin junior final last night between Raheny and Sylvesters. Some great football played and Sinead Ahern is some footballer but finished on the losing side despite scoring something like 4-3. Raheny FF - Gilroy's niece I think got 5-2 and their CF and no. 12 were both excellent. Great evening's entertainment even if the lack of tackling/defensive nous takes a bit of getting used to.
Anyone doing updates? Won't be able to see 2nd half.

POTG Jolene Donnelly. Take it they didnt watch some of her passes. Shes lethal in front of goal but gives away some ball.
Exciting game of football today. Draw was a fair result. After running away with it at the opening stages, Kerry did brilliantly to come back and nearly nick it in the end. The replay should be a good game.
Intermediate Football Championship Semi Final
Longford 1-06
Donegal 3-14
by Jackie Cahill
DONEGAL produced a devastating second half attacking display to book their place in the All Ireland Intermediate Football Championship Final on September 26th.
The North-Westerners, Junior champions in 2003, were inspired after half-time as top scorer Geraldine McLaughlin led a deadly scoring spree.
Donegal ventured into Longford's home territory in Ballymahon on Saturday and at the finish, they had secured a convincing 14-point success to set up a final showdown against Waterford.
In the process, Longford lost out at the semi-final stage for the third successive season after they were outscored by 0-4 to 2-11 in the second half.
McLaughlin secured the player of the match award after scoring 1-9, including 1-7 in the second half, as Michael Naughton's team ran riot.
At Half Time, Donegal led by just a single point, 1-3 to 1-2, and while inspirational midfielder Karen Guthrie increased the lead with the opening score of the second period, Longford hit back and looked like making a game of it.
The midlanders reeled off four unanswered points to lead by 1-6 to 1-4 with 36 minutes on the watch but Edel Quinn's point was the last time Longford would score as Donegal went on to utterly dominate the remainder of the game.
The winners went on to hit 2-10 without reply and it was McLaughlin who kickstarted the purple patch as she landed six unanswered points.
Yvonne McMonagle, quiet until then, burst into life with a quickfire 1-1 blast and the full-forward's 48th-minute goal ended the match as a contest.
With the breeze advantage, Donegal pushed on ruthlessly and McLaughlin crowned a majestic display with her team's third goal in the dying minutes.
There was a suspicion of square ball as McLaughlin fisted home Guthrie's long delivery but following a consultation, the goal was allowed.
The final result was hard to predict at the midway point as the teams were evenly matched in the first half.
Goal chances came and went at either end and it was Longford who struck first after five minutes when Sharon Treacy converted a penalty which was harshly awarded for a Diane Toner foul on Anne-Marie Bratten.
That goal gave Longford a 1-1 to 0-1 lead before McLaughlin set up Karen Feeney for Donegal's first half goal in the 12th minute.
McLaughin reflected afterwards: "We're really happy, so shocked that we finally got here. We went in at half-time and said that this is it, if we don't do it now, we'll never do it.
"Some people say it (goal) was a square ball - I don't know!"
Donegal boss Naughton said: "It was a good team performance. We knew Longford were a tough team but we kept at it and with the breeze advantage, we knew that if we got the ball into our forwards, they would do the damage.
"Geraldine is a scoring machine and she came back from Dublin last night to be here. These girls had belief - I told them we were 60 minutes away from Croke Park.
"And every man, woman and child that plays GAA wants to play in Croke Park."
Scorers for Longford: S Treacy 1-1 (1-0 pen, 0-1f), F Gettings 0-2, A.M. Bratten 0-1, E Brady 0-1, E Quinn 0-1,
Scorers for Donegal: G McLaughlin 1-9 (5f), Y McMonagle 1-2, K Feeney 1-0, E Ward 0-2 (1f), K Guthrie 0-1f.
Senior Football Championship Semi Final
Kerry 2-13
Tyrone 3-10
by Jackie Cahill
KERRY captain Bernie Breen secured a replay for her team as the Kingdom and Tyrone fought out an epic All Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi Final stalemate at Ballymahon, Longford, on Saturday.
Breen rifled home a brilliant 56th minute goal as Kerry, beaten Munster semi-finalists this year, earned a richly-deserved second chance to leave Dublin still awaiting their final opponents on September 26th.
Kerry's never-say-die attitude was in evidence on more than one occasion in this thrilling semi-final as they came from six points behind to draw level at half-time, 1-6 apiece.
And their battling qualities came to the fore again in the second half as Kerry hit back from the concession of two potentially shattering goals.
Player of the match Joline Donnelly, who shot 1-6, put Tyrone 2-6 to 1-6 ahead less than two minutes after half-time as the corner forward's looping shot found the back of the net.
But Kerry responded with a run of five unanswered points to lead by two before Mags O'Donoghue's 43rd minute penalty was brilliantly saved by Tyrone goalkeeper Shannon Lynch.
A goal for then for championship surprise packets Kerry would have put them five points clear and their woe was compounded at the other end less than two minutes later when Cathy Donnelly cracked home a terrific Tyrone goal.
Now 3-6 to 1-11 clear, Tyrone went on to lead by three points but Kerry hit back to cut the lead to a single point, 1-13 to 3-8, with three minutes remaining.
A Gemma Begley free and Joline Donnelly's sixth point pushed Tyrone three clear but the Red Hands were reeled in by Breen's magnificent strike in the 56th minute.
Tyrone had looked the better side in the first half but Kerry refused to yield, even when they fell 1-3 to 0-0 behind with eight minutes on the watch.
Sarah Connolly bagged Tyrone's goal in the eighth minute with a good finish after the ball had been worked into the full forward by Cathy Donnelly and Shannon Quinn.
Kerry's response was a run of three unanswered points sparked by top scorer Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh but Tyrone hit back with three of their own to lead by six points again, 1-6 to 0-3, by the 22nd minute.
Kerry, once again, dug deep and a run of 1-3 in the remaining minutes of the half ensured parity at the midway point.
Kerry's first half goal, scored by Lorraine Scanlon in the 28th minute, was another superb effort in keeping with the exceptional shooting on show all through the match.
Kerry boss William O'Sullivan said: "Great credit is due to both sets of players; people might not realise looking in on TV but the heat was extreme and to go at that pace for 60 minutes is testament to the fitness of both sides.
"We started poorly in both halves but we live to fight another day and any day you don't lose is a good day."
Scorers for Tyrone: J Donnelly 1-6 (0-1f), C Donnelly 1-1, S Connolly 1-0, A O'Kane 0-1, C McGahan 0-1, G Begley 0-1f.
Scorers for Kerry: L Ní Mhuircheartaigh 0-6f, L Scanlon 1-1, B Breen 1-1, S Houlihan 0-3f, L Galvin 0-1, P Dennehy 0-1.

Best of luck on the 26th!
Thought that was a horrendous interview with the Kerry girl afterwards. Poor girl, who was receiving the player of the match award, was distraught but the interviewer persisted in asking banal questions.

TYRONE are through to a very first Peil na mBan All Ireland Senior Football Final after squeezing past Kerry in Saturday's Semi Final replay at Banagher, Offaly.
Influential centre forward Gemma Begley led the charge with a 1-3 haul as the Red Hands edged out the Kingdom by just a single point - 1-09 to 0-11.
Tyrone will now meet last year's beaten finalists Dublin in a novel decider at Croke Park on Sunday September 26th while Kerry will regroup for next year in good spirits after emerging as the surprise packets in this year's championship.
Tyrone had to do it the hard way too as they came from three points down at half-time, 1-02 to 0-08, to secure the hard earned win.
Begley netted after just 65 seconds to set the Red Hands on their way but they were outscored by 0-2 to 0-8 for the remainder of the half as Kerry came on strong.
Tyrone also suffered an early blown when Neamh Woods was unlucky to receive a yellow card for a challenge on Louise Galvin and spent ten minutes in the sin-bin.
Kerry were level by the 12th minute - 0-04 to 1-01 - and moved a point in front with a superb Mags O'Donoghue score two minutes later.
Kerry then had a goal disallowed for a square ball in the 20th minute when Emma Sherwood's fisted goal from top-scorer Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh's free.
Catriona McGahan's 22nd minute point for Tyrone levelled proceedings again at 1-02 to 0-05 but three unanswered points before half-time saw Kerry regain the initiative.
After the break, Tyrone set about eating into Kerry's interval lead and full forward Sarah Connolly shot the opening point of the second half.
By the 11th minute, Tyrone were level at 1-06 to 0-09 before Ní Mhuircheartaigh responded with her and Kerry's second point of the half.
With eleven minutes remaining, Tyrone's Nina Murphy then hit a shot off the post with just the goalkeeper to beat but Cathy Donnelly hauled the Red Hands level again.
Points from ace corner forward Joline Donnelly and Aisling O'Kane pushed Tyrone two points clear - 1-09 to 0-10 - with three minutes remaining before Ní Mhuircheartaigh popped over her sixth point in the final minute.

Senior Championship – All Ireland Final
Tyrone v Dublin Croke Park (Dublin) 4.00pm (K Delahunty)
Tyrone's progress to this year's All Ireland Final has been, for many people, the story of this year's Senior Championship. They have played eight games through Ulster and the back door and on the way have dethroned reigning champions Cork. This progress has not been achieved by closing down the hatches either as Tyrone play a lovely brand of attacking football. In truth they possess the most lethal forward line and Dublin's chances will hinge on whether or not the likes of Begley, Connolly and Donnelly can be stopped. For Dublin, their progress has been steady, rather than spectacular but every time a question has been asked they have come up trumps. A one point defeat last year to Cork will surely be on their minds, but they can't take their eyes off the threat posed by Tyrone who are playing the better football of the two sides. But Dublin have been here before and that extra experience should stand to them. A tentative nod towards Gerry McGill and his charges to bring a first ever title back to the capital.

Intermediate Championship – All Ireland Final
Waterford v Donegal Croke Park (Dublin) 2.00pm (D McEnery)
The Division 2 League Champions Donegal facing the Division 3 League Runners Up Waterford – it should be Donegal's to lose but Waterford have blazed a trail through the group stages of the Championship notching up tallies of 5-20, 2-17, 8-23 and 3-10. That was before they put red hot favourites Cavan to the sword in the All Ireland Semi Final. Sisters Michelle and Sinead Ryan have been their scorers in chief. This good form will not be lost on Donegal however and Michael Naughton will have his homework done. 12 months ago Donegal had been relegated from Division 1 and relegated from the Senior Championship. They are back in Division 1 at the first time of asking. 60 minutes to go before the perfect comeback is complete.

Junior Championship – All Ireland Final
Louth v Limerick Croke Park (Dublin) 12.00 noon (J Niland)
Both of these sides had reasonable league campaigns before exploding to life in the Championship. Limerick were untouchable in the group stages and while Wexford offered them a fright or two in the All-Ireland Semi Final, they still ran out seven point winners. Louth haven't had it all their own way thus far but have made it this point on merit with a number of narrow hard fought wins. They have also shown an eye for goal in quite a few of their matches. Karen Flood has been pulling the strings for Louth at 11, while for Limerick Dymphna O'Brien has been their main threat. The ability to contain both Flood and O'Brien might just determine the outcome of this match. Limerick though to prevail.

Anyone explain in plain English the relationship between the GAA and Ladies GAA. Are they affiliated, recognised or disowned?
I'm nearly convinced they are a separate body. (no jokes)
Quote from: Milltown Row2 on September 24, 2010, 10:53:36 PM
I'm nearly convinced they are a separate body. (no jokes)
Why though? Is it because Camogie blades wear skirts?
The Ladies Gaelic Football Association were founded in 1974 and have remained independent of the GAA since then.
There had been talk that the two associations were going to merge at one stage, particularly when 'integration' talks were strong but this never materialised. Having all the bodies separate ensures that the Ladies Football Association can get separate funding from the Irish Sports Council.
Likewise Camogie have their own independent body, but I believe at one stage they were an official part of the GAA.
Unlike Camogie and Ladies Football The Rounders Association and the Handball Association are officially a part of the GAA

Congratulations to Dublin on winning the All-Ireland. A long wait for them and a deserved win, Tyrone had no answer for them.
Dublin and Cork would have been some game.
Dublin's first Ladies Football title, although they are still top of the Camogie All-Ireland table.
Very strong Dublin team that the Tyrone girls had little answer for when they powered through in the final third of the park.
Our girls were somewhat stage-struck initially, but there was only ever going to be the one winner regardless. Great experience that will stand to Tyrone no doubt.
Fair play to the ladies - brilliant stuff.
Yeah Fear ón Srath Bán Tyrone will be back. Their manager has some fighting talk like that on the Tyrone website after the game tho doesnt commit to coming back himself with them.
Bad form (I think) that the Sunday Game was at 11.00 last night. Why not its usual time?
Yesterday it was the full forwards who shone.
I wonder will the Cluxtons get a double All Star award this year? She really lead the line well yesterday.
Follow this now... Donegal's manager is a Sligo man, Donegal's captain plays for Bredagh in Down, Dublin's manager is a Donegal man... still with me? Ulster GAA has interview clips with the Donegal and Tyrone camps. The Tyrone boss says they will win an All Ireland but he may not be back. http://ulster.gaa.ie/2010/09/27/videos-from-ladies-football-finals///
Big Drumragh connection in that Tyrone Video. Manager an ex player ( Under age) and Captain Sinead McLaughlin also a Drumragh woman.

Yep, was like men against girls at times. I hear Pat Gilroy's been on the phone to a few of them already ;)
Well done the Dubettes. Was at game and it should be pointed out that Dublin played some absolutely scintillating football. Wasn't just their athleticism alone that won it. (lazy journalism to blame imo again).
On average the Dublin team looked at least 5/6 years older than the Tyrone team.
Tyrone were simply bowled over by Dublin yesterday.
Dublin pure class , watched the game again tonight, Tyrone were so poor though, so many players not up to the task not just county standard, plain and simple theres better players in Tyrone that wont play for those two Dromore boys. Players did walk away but not one was replaced WHY not, the two boys just wouldnt stoop to ask players to join the squad as they felt they could still do it their way. In turn these girls suffered , they did play in an all Ireland final but some must be embarrassed
You cant do full match plays with just 24 players, sorry 22 players, a couple injured. It would be unfair to single out the players who were so poor and have been poor for several years, there on as theres no competition.
Put it into context, they beat Cork who were minus a handful of there squad, Cork also lost a couple of players that day, Tyrone would always beat Kerry, Sligo and Leitrim but when push came to shove they were found out!!
Let the Dromore boys go and bring in managers that will have the respect of all Tyrone ladies football but more so the respect of quality players.

Limerick claim Junior Crown
Limerick 4-10 Louth 3-08
Limerick came from six points down at half-time to claim the All Ireland Junior Football Championship crown against Louth at Croke Park on Sunday.
The Shannonsiders, beaten finalists against Antrim last year, came storming back in the second half, having trailed by 1-4 to 3-4 at the break.
Tommy Stack's charges completed a remarkable turnaround in the second half, outscoring Louth by 3-6 to 0-4 as the West County Hotel Cup was secured in emphatic style.
This success marks a very first All-Ireland Ladies football crown for Limerick in the adult ranks and they will now make the step up to the intermediate grade in 2011.
Ultimately, it was the scoring prowess of Marie-Claire Curtin and Dymphna O'Brien that settled an exciting Croke Park decider, as the lethal pair hit 3-10 between them.
Curtin finished up with 2-5, including 1-4 in the second half, while sensational full-forward O'Brien took her championship tally to 13-39 with a 1-5 haul.
Clodagh Reidy completed the scoring for Limerick, beaten Bord Gáis Energy NFL Division 4 finalists this year, and it was the wing-forward's stunning goal four minutes into the second half which sparked a spirited revival.
Having cruised into the final with four comfortable victories, Limerick received their stiffest test of the entire season as Louth, who had come through arguably the tougher side of the draw, produced their best performance of the year.
2-1 from full-forward Anne-Marie Murphy helped to establish that six-point lead for the Leinster outfit while influential centre forward Kate Flood scored the other first half goal.
The sides were level at 0-2 apiece with 17 minutes on the watch before the game exploded into life when Murphy bagged two Louth goals in as many minutes.
Wing forwards Susan Byrne and Sandra Lynch combined to place Murphy for her first goal to hand Louth a 1-2 to 0-2 lead.
And within a minute, Murphy was fouled by experienced Limerick full-back Sandra Healy, who later went off injured, before picking herself up to convert the resultant 19th minute penalty.
Limerick badly needed a kick-start and they got it in fortuitous fashion in the 20th minute of a goal-filled spell as Curtin's free from 30m drifted into the net over the head of Louth goalkeeper Caoimhe Breen at the Canal End.
Reidy went close to a second Limerick goal two minutes before half-time when her shot drifted just wide before Louth struck again at the perfect time, just seconds before the half-time hooter, for a third goal.
Lynch was involved again as her free was superbly fisted home by Flood to give Louth valuable breathing space at the midway point.
The second half was a different story, however, as Limerick piled on the pressure and Louth lost two players - corner back Aine McGee and wing forward Byrne - to yellow cards.
Limerick hit Louth with an unanswered 1-2 after half-time, the goal brilliantly smashed into the top corner at the Hill 16 end by Reidy in the 34th minute, before experienced midfielder Orlaith Kirk hit Louth's opening point of the second half.
Back came Limerick with a 40th minute goal to take the lead for the first time in the match as O'Brien's shot came off the crossbar and Curtin picked up the pieces from close range.
Now 3-6 to 3-5 clear, Limerick had a lead they would not relinquish and O'Brien put the icing on the cake six minutes from time when she slotted the ball into an empty net after Breen had tipped Reidy's shot onto the post.
Scorers for Limerick: M.C. Curtin 2-5 (1-3f), D O'Brien 1-5 (0-2f), C Reidy (1-0).

Donegal clinch League and Championship double
Donegal 2-12 Waterford 0-16
Lethal full-forward Yvonne McMonagle bagged 2-5 from play as Donegal claimed the All Ireland Intermediate Football Championship title at Croke Park on Sunday.
The north-westerners captured the Mary Quinn memorial cup with a hard-fought two-point victory against Munster champions Waterford, who were appearing in their very first All-Ireland since the senior decider in 2000.
Ulster champions Donegal will make the step up to the senior championship in 2011 and what a season it has been for Michael Naughton's team, who added the All-Ireland crown to the Bord Gáis Energy National League Division 2 title.
Donegal repelled a spirited fightback from Waterford and came again with a strong surge midway through the second half to clinch the silverware.
Donegal led by two points at half-time, 1-7 to 0-8, and stretched that lead to five less than two minutes after the restart when McMonagle rattled home the second of her two brilliant goals.
McMonagle's first, in the 22nd minute of the first half, was brilliantly finished at the Hill 16 end with her left foot and she cracked home her second with her right boot.
The Glenfin star's ability to kick off both feet makes her so difficult to mark and this was an attacking display right out of the top drawer as all five of her points from play were textbook efforts.
One first half point from tight on the endline was worth the admission fee alone and McMonagle would go on to torment the Waterford defence in a roving commission.
Overall, 2003 All-Ireland junior champions Donegal created the better goal chances, five alone in the first half.
Eilish Ward was denied by Waterford goalkeeper Aimée Jordan in the 14th minute, Niamh Hegarty shot wide soon after before McMonagle finally broke through the Déise resistance, after Hegarty had hit the post seconds earlier.
Hegarty went close again four minutes before half-time, after Geraldine McLaughlin had a goal ruled out.
An overworked Waterford defence had suffered an early blow when Gráinne Enright was sin-binned in the sixth minute but the damage was minor.
0-3 to 0-1 clear when Enright picked up her yellow card, the scores were tied at 0-4 apiece when she returned.
The star turn all through this game was McMonagle, who also starred when Donegal won the Division 2 final against Kildare earlier this year.
She bombed through for a sensational goal early in the second half but despite going five points down, Waterford refused to wilt.
And a run of five unanswered points, with top-scorer Michelle Ryan on song from frees, hauled Waterford level at 0-13 to 2-7 by the 44th minute.
Donegal had gone 13 minutes on the clock without a score before McLaughlin popped over a 45th minute point from play before McMonagle, one with her left and then with her right, slotted over two points from play.
2-10 to 0-13 clear, Donegal had breathing space again having weathered the Waterford storm and while Jason Lynch's team twice got back to within a single point, the Ulster standard bearers held on to clinch a memorable league and championship double.
Scorers for Donegal: Y McMonagle 2-5, G McLaughlin 0-5 (3f), A McDonnell & G Houston 0-1 each.
Donegal - R McClafferty; D Toner, D Foley, K Wilson; C Hegarty, M Herron, T McCafferty; A McDonnell, K Guthrie; G Houston, N Hegarty, K Feeney; E Ward, Y McMonagle, G McLaughlin. Subs: N Stapleton for Foley (40), K Keeney for Houston (49), R Friel for Feeney (52).
Scorers for Waterford: M Ryan 0-8f, L Wall & S Ryan 0-2 each, G Enright, M McGrath, E Power & A Wall 0-1 each.
Waterford - A Jordan; N Dunphy G Enright, L Hogan; L Ryan, M Foley, M Wall; M McGrath, E Power; G Kenneally, M Ryan, L Wall; M Delahunty, S Ryan, A Wall. Subs: N Briggs for Delahunty (39), A Dunphy for M Wall (44).

Dublin cruise to All-Ireland Glory
(http://www.ladiesgaelic.ie/act_images/newlogo.gif)
Dublin 3-16 Tyrone 0-09
Sinead Aherne shot the lights out at Croke Park as Dublin finally captured the All Ireland Senior Football Championship after three previous final defeats.
The Sky Blues ran out comprehensive 16-point winners against first-time finalists Tyrone in front of 21,750 spectators at GAA HQ on Sunday.
The Jackies lost against Cork in last year's decider and also finished runners-up against Galway in 2004 and Mayo in 2003.
But it was clear from the moment that Aherne opened the scoring with 37 seconds on the watch that there would be no denying Dublin on this occasion .
Manager Gerry McGill and his players were left devastated last September when Cork won a final that Dublin had dominated until the closing stages.
The pain was even more acute for Aherne, who missed a first half penalty, but the St Sylvester's Allstar produced a stunning performance against Tyrone to banish any lingering memories from the 2009 decider.
The full-forward was simply sensational and finished with a personal tally of 2-7 to claim the player of the match award, a haul that included 2-4 from play.
Aherne's movement was too much for her direct marker Maura Kelly, a fine defender in her own right, to cope with but overall, this was a superb Dublin performance.
From goalkeeper Cliodhna O'Connor, who was spot-on with her pinpoint kickouts, through to left corner forward Elaine Kelly, Dublin dominated proceedings and had this game wrapped up by half-time.
At the break, the Leinster champions, relegated from Division 1 of the Bord Gáis Energy National League earlier this year, led by 2-8 to 0-5 and the Brendan Martin Cup was theirs to lose.
There was no letting up in the second half as Dublin continued to display an incredible work-rate and appetite for the game that Tyrone could not match.
Their full-back line was rock solid and at midfield, captain Denise Masterson led by example with a display of boundless energy in both halves of the field.
In attack, five of Dublin's six starting forwards were on target from play and while Mary Nevin may not have got on the scoresheet, the experienced Na Fianna star put in one hell of a shift.
One of the survivors from the 2003, 2004 and 2009 defeats, Nevin was called ashore with eight minutes to go and the look of joy on her face as she embraced manager McGill was one of the images of the season.
Tyrone, meanwhile, had emerged as one of the stories of the season after bouncing back from their Ulster championship defeat to Armagh to make it all the way to Croke Park.
Along the way, the Red Hands hit a combined 11-42 against Leitrim and Sligo before accounting for Cork, who had won the last five All-Ireland titles, in a remarkable quarter-final.
Tyrone then shook off Kerry after a replay but just when they needed it most, their form deserted them as stage-fright appeared to play a part in a below-par performance.
Midway through the first half, Tyrone were still in contention, trailing by 0-3 to 0-6, but Dublin then began to press home their superiority.
Their first goal arrived in the 16th minute, courtesy of hard-working centre forward, who would not be denied after Kelly had kept out her initial effort with a fine block.
On the follow-up, Lyndsey Davey rattled a shot off the crossbar before McGuinness followed up to bulge the Tyrone net.
By then, Tyrone had lost full-forward Sarah Connolly to a broken finger in the tenth minute and overall, it was a day when very little went right for the beaten finalists.
Cruising towards a comfortable half-time lead, Dublin made it a matchwinning one when Aherne scored a superb goal in the 27th minute.
Sorcha Furlong's perceptive crossfield pass left Aherne one on one with Kelly and after selling the full-back a dummy, Aherne slipped a shot beneath Shannon Lynch and into the net.
Within eight minutes of the restart, Dublin were 14 points clear as Aherne took a pass from Elaine Kelly and slotted home her second goal.
With 20 minutes remaining, Dublin led by 16 points against shellshocked Tyrone and that's the margin that would separate the two teams at the finish.
It could have been even more but with two minutes remaining, Tyrone netminder Lynch pulled off a fine save to deny Peat a fourth Dublin goal.
Scorers for Dublin: S Aherne 2-7 (0-3f), A McGuinness 1-3 (0-1f), L Davey & E Kelly 0-2 each, G Fay & L Peat 0-1 each.
Dublin - C O'Connor; R Ruddy, A Cluxton, M Kavanagh; S McGrath, S Furlong, G Fay; D Masterson, Niamh McEvoy (Parnells); M Nevin, A McGuinness, L Peat; L Davey, S Aherne, E Kelly. Why don'y you put yourself forward for it then, rather than crying about who is there. Why not try to improve things than just complaining about it.
I'm sure the two managers didn't appoint themselves, they got their shot at it and from what I've seen have done a hell of a good job.
Do you want to expand on how they alienated half the county?
You know what I will, watch this space, they had a wee happy band of players but failed to add to the squad, they should have been at games and looked at new players to bolster things up when they lost players!! is that not a fair comment, your preparation just cant be achieved with a limited squad, any coach will tell you that. at least one player in the squad was injured for most of the year and finally the only reason they stayed in the post at the start of this year was that some members of the county board drove it through when they too were going through turmoil, no-one else had a chance, the facts are there, if you attended county meetings as I do you would understand
Funny you never voiced any of these concerns before the final?
As you say yourself they had a happy band of players. So seems like the management kept the squad united. It's not easy to bring outside players into a squad that's already been fomed, not least because it'll be a big step up from club level.
If you'd been told at the start of the year that the ladies would have been contesting the AI you would have happily taken it. And the current management got them there.
It sounds to me that you should be taking a bigger issue with the CB than the management if it was all forced through (I find this hard to believe to be fair). From what I can see the Management haven't done much wrong.
I raised the points a long time ago , and to be fair whether you want to believe it or not theres county players of a better standard in Tyrone playing club football several of whom who have played at the highest level for the county , if there was a chance of winning an all Ireland you do what you have too, 2008, Stevie O'Neill back in the Tyrone fold etc, I am talking about players here who have experience of playing at the top level at county and uni level,
Sadly there are players in Tyrone who wont play for the current management, thats there own personal gripe but there are others that if they had been asked would have jumped at the chance and that includes some of the old hands that can still do a job
You didn't raise any of them on here. Which is what I'm talking about.
You still haven't explained why some girls won't play for the management, so I'll take that with a pinch of salt.
There'll always be arguments about some people who aren't on the panel that some people will think are good enough to be there. That happens every management set up. It's down to the management to prove that they're decision was correct. And by taking the ladies to the final, a step further than any other manager in the ladies has every done, I think I'll give the two boys the benefit of the doubt that they made the correct decisions in the main part.
Hack, I'm for one am proud of the ladies this year. They gave it their all, but fell short on the big day. As the old saying goes, you have to lose and All-Ireland to win one. It will be a great learning curve for them and I've no doubt they'll be back next year.
