You have to wonder if these people watch the games at all.
It's the ''Dooher off bench replacing injured O'Neill'' blunder I'm getting at by the way
yesterdays sunday tribune had the same error, saying that dooher come on to replace o'niell, yet they had it right in the stats at the bootm of the artical that itt was infact mcguigan and dooher started.
they obviously didnt even bother to watch the game before writing a report on it

Most of these reports would come from the same source. That's why many papers make the same mistakes, they're just putting out the same material. It's a matter of taking the report and editing it as you see fit. They wouldn't have had anyone watching the game and would depend on the feeds from elsewhere.

If a national newspaper cant get their own reporter to a Provincial Football Semi Final, or even have one watch it on tv then you really have to wonder what exactly their GAA staff do.

Lots of national newspapers contract smaller games out to one reporter who then writes the report under an assumed name

The independent deal with anything in the north as foreign. Any reporter they would send to Belfast would probably be looking the same conditions he would receive going to South Africa.

Which makes perfect sense if there is a full round of national league fixtures for both football and hurling, but for gods sakes there were only 2 championship games on. It's less than 2 hours from Dublin.

Papers are cutting down on sending their own reporters outside of Dublin though, using a local freelance saves on paying a full-timer's expenses. It keeps me in a job (though I didn't do the Tyrone-Down game) :D
If they're going to do this, they might as well just watch the match on the TV and write the report from that.

Theres me with an irrational sense that the indo was out of touch with the north all these years, the smug shower of bastids
Did anyone think of sending a complaint to the Indo?

It happens sometimes ;)
Their reporter watched it from Dublin via telescope.
