Title: Save of the....last while anyway
Post by: Denn Forever on October 27, 2009, 11:24:04 AM
The save of the James Stephen's goalkeeper from Shefflin on Sunday was brilliant.  Any other contenders?

serious save alright.

The best save I ever saw was Damien Young for WIT against maybe UCC a few years back - I think its on youtube. An unbelievable save, especially considering he actually meant it.

thats the best save I can recall. Although Tommy Quaid made some cracking saves in the mid 90's. Henry didnt look pleased!!

Shefflin hit it at a nice height for the keeper.
A more clinical forward would have made the keeper get down to make the save!

Brilliant save.

Best save I have seen at inter county level was Davy Fitz against Joe Deane a few years back.

Davy Fitz against Paul Shelley too in one of those drawn games in the late 90s. The time Brian Lohan forgot about the ball and wore timber off Shelly for the afternoon. Twas in Cork, but can't think of the year (or the game off-hand).

That is some save in the OP.

Here is Davy Fitz from Shelley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhJbupkVQY4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhJbupkVQY4)

great save. Not the one I was thinking of though. The one I'm thinking of was down the blackrock end, and it was a drifting type shot that Shelley batted up towards the top corner. Davy got up to turn it around the post - amazing reflexes.

Adrian Power's save for Waterford was the pick of what I've seen this year. The shot was headed for the top left corner but Power somehow managed to turn his arm to tip it over with his hurl:

Cummins save from Shefflin and Brennan's save from Shefflin also excellant.

Fantastic save. Up there with Adrian Power's saves against Dublin and Brendan Cummins stop from Shefflin in the NHL final for save of the year.
