Residents of Springfield in Vermont are celebrating after landing the right to host the premiere of the Simpsons movie.

The town beat off 13 others across the United States in an online poll.

Each location had to submit a video and the winning entry showed a human version of Homer chasing a huge
doughnut.

The film is expected to be a worldwide success.

Not long to go

Anyone seen it yet?

Went tonight, and thought it was not bad. The film is very short, and I think is only 1hr 15 mins or so long. A lot of typical background/adult humour that, as the cinema audience was young, not too many got. It got a bit disconcerting laughing on your own all the time!!

I'll not review too much incase of letting spoilers. I'll give it 7.5 out of 10...maybe 8 if I watched it again.

I'm not a great film buff, but there appears to be a running 'mock the movie' theme throughout, I noticed Close encounters, Empire Strikes back, titanic and a few others..

Some quality moments in it, which easily match the Hank episode. There was also parts that dragged, which the film could have did without.

Funny.

Just saw a fella on tv making a good point. If you compare it with most other 90 minute comedies, even the best animated ones like shrek, its much better.

If you compare it with seasons 3 to 9 its not as good.

I'd agree with that. I thought it was very funny.

Not enough Mr Burns though, all the best episodes are Mr Burns related

I thought Transformers was excellent.  obviously the plot was never gonna be mind melting, but if u want to lie back and watch some great special effects and fight scenes, some funny bits topped off with a bit of eye candy then this is pure entertainment.

I thought the Simpsons was great, then again I didn't go in with high expectations.  all the trailers that are on the go ruined some of it though. :(

"I SEEN" Transformers at the weekend and I thought it was the best action film I have seen in a while. The graphics are just amazing and the story line isn't too bad. With Speilberg involved you know that you will get that conection with the characters which this film needed. There is already talk of a second. If its as good as this one I can't wait. Just have to see the Simpsons now just hope its a laugh

i definitely think i went in expecting much more....many of you guys that have seen it after reviews maybe had less of an expectation and therefore came out satisfied....i prob need to see it again a couple of times, but was v disappointed

nowhere near quality of stonecutters!

Simpsons - average, like an extended recent episode rather than an extended "classic" episode. Funny in places.

Transformers - its alright as well, the transformers where cool though.

Does anyone know the Simpsons episode where Homer and Marge are convicts and are asked to serve at a party at a mansion? The dark glasses prison warden from Cool Hand Luke keeps Marge and Homer in check with a whip.

Homer is asked to play the piano for the dinner party guests. It sounds terrible, but then the prison warden cracks his whip on Homer, who then starts to play the piano perfectly.

That episode doesn't exist. Think you've both imagined it. The Simpsons finished up at the end of Season 9.
