Post by: stpauls on February 26, 2009, 03:45:09 PM
don't see another thread for Wii users, so i figured i would start one!!  ;D

got one for my 30th there 2 weeks ago, and haven't had as much fun with a console ever.
does anyone else on here have one, and if so, what do you think of them?

got the Wii in a deal with Wall-E, Lego Batman and Iron Man, but don't play them too much!!

bought COD 3 and House of the Dead, with gun accessory, it is great fun.

also got Maria Kart and Wii Fit for my birthday, which i am really enjoying.

Guitar Hero was got as well, and it so far is my favourite game!!

Absolutely hooked on Mario Kart at the min, especially playing online. It's some craic! It's great for playing all your mates online when you register each other.

Check out Smash Bros Brawl St Pauls, it's a great game too. Whats COD 3 like?

COD 3 is not bad, only really played for a wee bit as i got hooked on GH and Mario Kart, so it has been shelved for the time being. will let you know when i start into it again.

Maybe something could come of this. Certain members could host "open rooms" and then any1 that wants to join would just have to register that person as a friend and then bob's your uncle. Battle Mode would be savage fun

Corporal, if want to create an open room, and set a time and date for the battle, i will mark it in my calendar!!  ;)

Mario Galaxy is one game everyone must buy if they own a Wii and the  only Wii game I have ever spent alot of time playing - one of only 6 games to ever get 10 out of 10 in Edge.

We'd have to see if any1 on here would be up for it and see who all has MK. Would be happy to create an open room and challenge all gaa board members.

Big fella, i also own Mario Galaxy and have to admit its a brill game. Havent played it in ages tho as im stuck on a part and ive given up trying to get past it

i also have a wii, mariokart is great craic! whether playing online or among a group. also got house of the dead 1 & 2....which i think are both terrible! also own mario galaxy...still in the process of completing it, but its very enjoyable! i bought fifa 09 jst before xmas, its a bit strange to get used 2 though, but imo its no were near the standard of fifa on either the ps3 or xbox. i got smash bros with the console but never really got into it, loads tell me it's great but i just cant get into it, i also got splinter cell, its a really old looking game and i never liked it from day one. i bought star wars just after xmas as well, it's not a bad game and worth a look at!
getting onto the wii shop is also worthwhile! i picked up a couple of classic games! streets of rage from the sega, the original mario from the first nintendo system and also mega man! great wee games!
it'd be good to hear any other suggestions for good games to buy ;D

Got it last christmas and have had some craic playing it. Turned it on last week though and the sensor bar doesn't appear to be picking up the remote - anyone else had this problem and if so, what I should I do? Got the wiifit for the birthday and haven't been able to use it yet (and I could do with using it).

makes it a bit more realistic, if you can call it that, but agree with you, it gets a bit boring and repetitive after the first couple of goes!!
got it as a 2 for £30 with COD 3 so i don't feel so bad about buying it!!

Is there any way you can play friends plus have the other characters in the race?

yeah you can mod the WII, check out http://www.wii-chip.co.uk. They have some products that don't require any soldering to the motherboard.

CB, either you or your friend should join a worldwide vs race, then a wee message should could up saying that your friend is online and currently in a vs race. It will give you the option of joining him and just hit the "join friend" button and hey presto, the both of you's are racing against the American's and Europeans and Japanese

was looking as PES6 the other night, looks like you use the nunchuck to control your player and the remote to point to where you want to pass/shoot etc.

We got one last week, had a go at Tiger Woods PGA 09, driving and approach shots to the greens are ok (in easy mode) but putting is an absolute nightmare.

Bought CoD too, haven't played it yet though - does anyone know if you need the gun adaptor for it?

Also got My Fitness Coach, for obvious reasons  :D

Don't have a wireless connection at home but will be getting the USB to RJ45 adaptor so play online so will join in if I can

RIght have bought the wii for the eldest (6 yo) and need some advice on accessories. Firstly do I need additional controllers as come with 1 off motion control and 1 off nunchuk? What is difference in wii remote and motion control? Can you get decent adult games? By adult I don't mean pornographic.

Thank you.

Additional controllers are handy, saves passing it back and forth between people.  Am not sure about the difference between wii remote and motion control.  You can get many adult games for it, just depends what you are into

Cracked open the box there and I now realise that the nunchuk is an extension of the remote rather than two separate controllers so I'll buy a couple extra and Mario Kart as it was played flat-out on the snes circa 1994/95!

Haven't played a whole lot of the actual Wii games, but I'd definitely recommend having a look on Wiiware (the equivalent of Xbox Live) and looking at some of the classic games you can download. Downloaded a few myself and there are some great games for cheap prices.
