Just a quick question maybe someone could answer for me, Im travelling with ryanair on wednesday from belfast to glasgow. I cant find my passport anywhere, their website says a driving liscense is fine as photo id, no mention of provisional liscences, anyone know if they are alright???

A provisional licence is still a driving licence and you will be fine with it..The security at airports is so slack now you could near fly with a gym card.....

We were going to Liverpool on easyjet about 5 years ago and one of my mates realised he had forgotten his passport at the airport. They let him on the plane after he showed them a school dinner pass with his photo on it :o No shit. This was about 5 years ago

Jeeze! A few months back when I was going through security in Dublin there was a woman BAWLING because she'd lost the passport between checkin and security and they wouldnt let her any further.
I flew to Liverpool with my security pass from work...It is a pass to a government office but is not listed as one of the documents you are allowed to fly with. I had my licence in my wallet as well...just wanted to see if i could get away with using it..

You can't check in online with a driving license but have to check in at the airport. AFAIK there is a charge for this.
I have to bring the 5 month old to Cork, going to fly, as hospital is beside airport, do I need travel ID for baby as it is an internal flight Dublin to Cork? He is not on either of our passports>
i asked this a few weeks back and the info i got was driving licence are ok on ryanair flights for domestic flights if booked before some time in May, but this is changing in october when you will need a passport.

Finally got through to them and baby needs own passport! Have to try and get passport in 1 day by going to passport office, need flight confirmation before they will rush it, cant get flight confirmation without passport. Red f**king tape!

For all carriers
other than Ryanair, a passport is not required when travelling internal in Ireland or between Ireland and the UK.
Last year I brought my young lad to the UK on Aer Lingus without any ID for him.
Heading to San Fran in Nov with the wife. My brother in law booked the aer lingus flights and has put her married name down, but her passport still has her maiden name on it.
Anyone know what can be done about this? Will we have to pay for a name change? I've heard someone say to bring a marriage certificate..is this true?
Plus when did aer lingus stop flying direct dub to san fran? We have to stop in feckin Chicago, were we will no doubt have more problems with the name on the booking >:(
Aer lingus are usually decent enough on changing details, im sure one of my mates changed his name ( it was booked under paddy or patrick ) last year and it cost him around 30 euros

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you turn up with no ID they'll still let you travel - as long as you buy another ticket. They only demand photo ID so that if you decide not to travel you can't pass your ticket to someone else
