Armagh Men Abused

The above teams met on Sunday. Armagh Team was – Goal, Farrell (Phelims), P Rafferty (Harps), J McKenna (Tir-na-nog), N McVeigh (Tir-na-nog), W Slevin (Harps), BCorr, captain (Tir-na-nog), T McAleavy (Harps), Cleary (Phelims), J Murtagh (Tir-na-nog), J Brawley (Harps), J Bermingham ((Harps), J O'Malley (Phelims), J Kearney (Tir-na-nog), E Kearney (Phelims), F O'Neill (Dwyers), P Kennedy (Phelims), and J Begley (Red Hands); reserves C Breen and Markey (Dwyers). Referee, Mr McGinley, Belfast.

McAleavy and a player from Newtownhamilton did not turn up so Armagh had to play with two men short. The match was not played to a finish, the County Armagh team being hindered and abused and even assaulted by the spectators. The score was 8 points to 4 in favour of Cavan.

I thought at that time it was the club teams that represented the counties?

All the Crossmaglen men must have been playing soccer those days.

Naw i think the manager was not from south armagh and they would not play for him.
