Youse have a dodgy keeper and not enough scoring, quality forwards....

Sounds like you are referring to the "chokers" who Cushendall comfortably defeated in the Antrim Final by seven points.  What evidence supports your argument.  The teams have never played each other before so there is no form guideline.  How many time s whay so seen Loughrea play to know that it will be an insurmountable step-up in opponent.

Tony Montana - you know v little.  A "shitty day" would do nothing for Cushendalls' chances. Cushendall would be a good hurling side in the purest sense and would suit a dry sod and ball.  From viewing several DVDs of Loughrea I belive it will be a 50-50 game, probably down to desire to win on the day.

Antrim beaten by Wexford in Walsh Cup28 January 2007

Paul Shields who was Antrim's top scorer in Sunday's Walsh Cup defeat by Wexford A largely experimental Antrim side were well beaten in the end by Wexford in Sunday's Walsh Cup ¼ final in Piercetown, Wexford.
Antrim's new management team, who are short of the Cushendall contingent, tried out a few new players in their first competitive game since taking charge.
The Saffrons did well in the first half and led by 0-9 to 0-8 at the break, but when the home side upped the pace in the second half they pulled away to win comfortabley.
Debutant Paul Shields kept Antrim's hopes alive with a goal midway through the second half, but Wexford found the Antrim net three times to run out 3-20 to 1-14 winners and book a semi-final slot against Laois.
ANTRIM – DD Quinn, B McAuley, J McKeague, J Campbell, M Molloy, K Herron, N McAuley, C Cunning, B Herron, L Watson, K Kelly, M Herron, K Stewart, P Richmond, P Shields.
SUBS – J McIntosh for Stewart; M Scullion for Cunning; S Burke for B Herron;

I agree with Greenan on principles of opening  Croke Park.  And even worse,  The GAA have rescheduled both All Ireland Hurling semi-final bacause of the rugby.

Amount of hurling has increased slightly. A couple of article re Cushendall's upcoming AI semi.  I would expect further increases in hurling coverage from FEb on the hurling season really gets under way.

Down could really struggle this year.  Gary savage has just retired and Paul Branniff has unfortunately suffered another cruciate injury.  Big players , big miss

Todays edition was again good.  But still lacking enough content relating to hurling.  Time to change name to "Gaelic Football Life"

Excellent read, but as expected lip-service to hurling etc.  Perhap rename to Gaelic Football Life.   Brolly doesnt hide his views of GPA !!!!!!

Absolutely,  this years events killed the Ulster Championship.  I believe it is irrevelant to Antrim now.   The heady days of  the early 90s couldl only be repeated if Antrim and Down and / or Derry can get relatively competitive at All-Ireland level and even then with no connection between Ulster Championship and All-Ireland it has no purpose.  Maybe the the 10000-15000 crowns would return ( 20000 never happened)

GAA Discussion / Re: Referees New Logo

The Reiteoir emblem shown represents all the officials who preside over our National Games.

Rather than call our officials 'Match Officials' giving the impression of single matches, it was decided to call them 'Games Officials', thus incorporating our national games of both Gaelic Football & Hurling.

Whether the respective official(s) are officiating at an Under 8's Football game in Tralee or at an All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final in Croke Park, there is a common theme to each game and that is that these games require games official(s) on the day. The above logo depicts this uniformity regardless of location, competition etc.

Reiteoir is the umbrella under which Referee, Standby Referee, Linesmen, Sideline Official, Umpires and Assessors all come.

The logo itself has incorporated:

The 32 counties of Ireland

4 provinces and their respective championships

The inclusion of New York & London (competing in respective provinces during the Championship)

The All Ireland series

A Football (to represent Gaelic Football)

A Sliotar (to represent Hurling)

The name Reiteoir to incorporate all Games Officials

Finally a Celtic theme (both colour and design) to highlight the way in which our National Games are unique and originated in Ireland.

CAN any one see any of the above in the logo  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the indo

LOUGHREA and Nemo Rangers have been installed as favourites to win the AIB All-Ireland club hurling and football titles.

The Galway hurling champions are listed at 11/8 to replace 2006 All-Ireland winners, Portumna, whom they beat in a combustible county final, while Nemo, the most successful football club in the history of the competition, are 5/2 to regain the Merrigan Cup.

Loughrea, who won the Galway title for the first time since 1941, look set to take their first Connacht final when they play Athleague (Roscommon) in next Sunday's final.

If they win, they will go into the All-Ireland semi-final against Ulster champs Cushendall. It's Leinster v Munster on the other side.

It will be a major shock if Loughrea don't reach the final, whereas the other side of the draw is much tougher as it features the Leinster and Munster clubs.

ALL-IRELAND CLUB BETTING (Ladbrokes) - Football: Nemo Rangers (Cork) 5/2; Corofin (Galway) 3/1; Crossmaglen Rangers (Armagh) & UCD 5/1; Dr Crokes (Kerry) & Errigal Chiarain (Tyrone) 10/1; Ballinderry (Derry) & St Brigid's (Roscommon) 14/1; Moorefield (Kildare) 16/1; Rhode (Offaly) 20/1; Cargin (Antrim) 66/1; Arles-Killeen (Laois) 80/1; Aherlow (Tipperary) 100/1; Clontibret (Monaghan) & Tyrrellspass (Westmeath) 125/1; The Nire (Waterford) 150/1.

Hurling: Loughrea (Galway) 11/8; Ballyhale Shamrocks (Kilkenny) 2/1; Birr (Offaly) 8/1; Erin's Own (Cork) & Mount Sion (Waterford) 10/1; Toomevara (Tipperary) 12/1; Cushendall (Antrim) 14/1; Wolfe Tones (Clare) 20/1.

Hope Loughrea under estimate Cushendall.  They probably will at their peril.  Cushendall are fully confident of at least making the final this year.
