Dunsilly was only built as a training base/Centre of excellence for the county teams.
It was never to be used for County/club matches cos Casement was meant to be build years ago!!! It was last used in 2013 ffs

Quote from: Oso on January 22, 2024, 09:20:50 PMDelighted to see St Thomas' win it. O'Loughlin Gaels will feel aggrieved about the one that looked over the line but I can't stand simulation and karma bit them in the ass, that was never a red card.

Much to be admired about St Thomas' mentality, physical and mental toughness and endurance over the 2 games, the semi final and final.  But they have some amazing hurlers too, Conor Cooney obviously, the Burke's etc. Those last 2 points of Eanna Burke's were simply magical, worth the admission fee alone.

With Ballyhale missing a few last year O'Loughlin's will see that as a huge missed opportunity. They lack a few forwards and have relied on scores from further out. It's a long way back for them.

Agree - very hard to see that as a red card. Mind you, Burke could easily have got a second yellow just before he scored that amazing point. You know, I sort of wanted O'Loughlin Gaels to win it, but I fancied Thomas', and they were the better balanced side.

Yep he should have been off for a second yellow for the loose slap at the gaels player's hand.  I can't recall what the first yellow was for though.
Dragged down Mikey Butler off the ball in the first half?

Tend to agree with this... Missed the boat today. That and they would have had every chance vs St Thomas's in the final.  No disrespect to them, they have some super hurlers and real physical and mental strength but they are not Ballyhale. They were fortunate last night, Ballygunner beat themselves with the free count they conceded and their game management every time they went ahead.

When McManus eventually goes Cushendall will be well down the pecking order in Antrim for a few years.
Who knows? As good as Neil is, and I mean absolutely unbelievable....
Not comparing him but
Argentina recovered after Maradona, Brazils with Pele, KK with Shefflin etc
Neil will leave a legacy to aspire to.
You just have to keep going
After your Slaughtneil prediction 😂

Embarrassing

What if the Leinster Council made Antrim travel to play all the matches in the group stages in Leinster?

Actually thought that could have been a red card. Shoulder from Ryan to the head.
But Lohan will blame the referee. It wasn't the referee in the Munster final who left the same fella on Gillane for over 50 minutes and on a yellow card, or randomly played a sweeper in the first half.

Always baffled me as to how Flynn didn't kick on and fulfil the huge potential he had..

Various managers just didn't seem to trust or rate him, when it looked like he would be the man to build a forward line around.

Serious power and pace and well able to hurl just never seemed to kick on to that next level that he looked like he could have had.

Maybe slightly sore on and not fully aware of other circumstances, but just how it appears from the outside looking in.

A strange one alright.

I think he was travelling between the US and home so training was probably on the light side and hard for a manager to start or even put on ahead of other lads who are training full tilt, but I thought he was home full time the last few years.

He more often than not has an impact from the bench so was always a strange one that he never really started much.
That was Johnny Glynn who was in America

Probably the third best player in the famous Cushendall half back line after James & Leonard

I think he'll go and it is the right time to go for him personally. Picking up the odd injury and you don't want to stay on too long. He's had an brilliant career for Antrim.

Dunsilly was built as a training ground for County teams and is a good venue for that, but since Casement Park was f**ked up by a previous County Board and the UC they've decided to use it for Championship matches as the County Board can control all tickets/money.

Poor parking and toilet facilities for big crowds. You've also players using the same entrance as supporters before the match and half time, which personally I don't think should happen. And as mentioned before, they can't host double headers .  Bigger crowds would have attended North Antrim venues (Ballycastle/Dunloy) for the bigger championship matches. Intermediate/Senior C'Ship should be double headers where possible.
Never mind the cost in this day and age.

The county teams do seem to be well prepared and are generating good interest. But almost 3 months went past with NO fixtures for the rest of the girls left behind

The County board cancelled Feile last year as it clashed with a senior county fixture and I just fear the priorities are misplaced!
If I'm not mistaken the County Camogie Board is pretty much a new executive this year, so anything that happened last year can't be laid at their door. This is the first year of the split so it will obviously take abit of tweaking to get things right for next year in regards to fixtures as that is a long time for the club players. Personally I think the Junior team is a good idea.
Only having 5 (I think) team in Division 1 is a big problem, so you have mainly 4 teams forming two squads (Dunloy, Loughgiel, Ballycastle & Cushendall) with a few from other clubs

Well it would be about time some of them stepped up consistently, not 20 minutes here and there. Alot of them have been average enough against the better opposition
And there's no doubt the free taking should have been changed the last day out.....Surely that's the management's responsibility??
Think Antrim will win today.

3576 cases in the north. I assume that is for two days? It does however say January 1st so maybe not? Herd immunity without the vaccine may beat herd immunity with the vaccine at current rate!
Yeah that's over 2 days as no figures on NY's day
