1 up at half time in women's hockey against SA.

Up 2-0 end of third qtr.

Great win on Olympic debut for women's hockey. Seemed to play within themselves. Sexist I know but some fine looking women on both teams.

Great performance by young Rossies yesterday. Nice direct, fast style and no little skill by the underage teams. Won in the first half in a blistering spell, and always maintained a comfortable lead but credit to Mayo too they never gave up, when heads can easily drop at this age group. Heat and cramp took a lot out of both sides and recovery will be tough for semi against Galway.

When's the riding?

Pommel Horse now. Sounds like Rhys McClenaghan up in about 20 mins.

Don't know much about Pommel Horse but sounds like he got a good score and should make top 8. Commentary is quite whimsical.

Other gold contenders O'Donovan and McCarthy comfortable in their double skulls heat. George Hamilton fairly into the old rowing, quickly dismissing the Uruguay's for racing into a early lead, George correctly predicting it would be their only moment of glory.

Great win. Have enjoyed our 3 games in Connacht immensely. Very concerning first quarter - and looked like it could be one of those days. But if anything that qtr ended with Mayo losing confidence, as they kicked some thunderous wides and tired themselves out with a labourious style of play, very un-Mayolike style. Ros never looked back once they settled in 2nd qtr. Much better tackling team than I realised, good foot passers which was vital in that heat, and a set of forwards always looking to score. We had bad misses too so there's a huge amount of improvement but with some of our best players only coming back from injury, we will get better. Hard luck to Mayo, when you knock out an All-Ireland Favourite has to be disappointing to then lose provincial final. A bright spot was some of their midfield fielding. But will lament lack of forwards in this group. Have a stronger group coming next year, as has Sligo.

Hard to judge where Mayo are at based on that game. It was very poor quality football - yet the quality of the penalties from both teams were top class, as good as you'd ever see. The game was tight, tense very low scoring and maybe two good teams just canceling each other out. Mayo certainly are strong in the backs, and look to have a good scatter of strong, physical players. Ros are a good footballing side, but with a lot of injuries to key players. Should make for a great contest. Ara we'll win.

England have no creativity in central midfield. The fact that a safe pass the ball sideways merchant like Declan Rice is worth 75 million says it all. Grealish has creativity but as a winger but he spends more time trying to do over dramatic tumbles at the slightest contact. Italy totally bossed them around the middle of the field. England put so many back, and have a tremendous work rate and press, which makes them very hard to beat. But like a Jack Charlton team they are hard to watch. Won't be anywhere near winning a World Cup, even though can safely say after watching Copa too that the standard of international soccer has gone way down. How we are so off the pace in Ireland is shocking really.

Thought about Shaw too. Wouldnt go as far as callin them snakes tho...

Rashford class act surely if there was a boy you wanted to score it was him..

It was almost a perfect penalty, sent goalie wrong way, only for hitting the post. Southgate will be cursing his luck that he did not run out of time to put the two subs on.

Italy trying to pass their way in but less room in that English defense than Dolly Parton's corset. Best bet would be to test Pickford from outside box.

Such a soft penalty but Stirling, Grealish and Kane have been looking to buy  frees and penalties all game.

Chiellini was fair chill before those kicks, then again he wasn't one of the 5 to have to take. But you have to admire his positivity. Hope they go all the way now, but Spain had the winning of game before the shootout.

Deserved win for Galway. I was optimistic at half time as after Galway goal, we started to play and string good scores together. We did miss a lot too, and had what looked a good point waved wide, and looked like opposite happened for Galway in second half. Very disjointed second half and apart from Cregg's 2 minutes before injury  when he stole in for a score, subs did not work. AC did not have a great day on the line and how Kiloran and Diarmuid were taken off before Cox is a mystery. As for the new defensive Poacher tactics, just awful to watch. Adds nothing to our game, other than signal to opposition we are afraid. It's been a poor year and I suppose the best that can be said is we are put out of our misery. Congrats to Galway, they will know themselves that a huge improvement is needed for a Mayo even without COC. But Shane Walsh would be a bigger loss for Galway. But like last year, Galway can always raise their game for Mayo.
