Folks - do ye download movies or watch in the cinema? Want to see some of the movies people have reviewed favourably but not sure if they are in the cinema or not. Gran Torino, Slumdog, Frost Nixon and Revolutionary Road are next on the list.

Download.  Why dont you download them?

Frost/Nixon - really enjoyed it though Frost comes across as a buffoon.

The latter every time. The cinema's for the courting. My courting days are over.

Over the Bar

O'Neill I've only every D/L a couple of shows but the picture quality was less than good and the sound was crap.   Do you get DVD quality DLs and if so can you recommend a site where & method how to get then?

ONeill

Usually from torrentz which will lead you into mininova or the like. Try to read any user comments (if any) before downloading as they'll warn you about any problems. Make sure they are dvdrips or dvdscr at a push. Sometimes you will come across bogus downloads but on the whole 95% of my downloads are good.

This helps explain:

Laptop is about 3 years old and does not have a HDMI connection

Best bet would be to take a photo of the TV connections and bring it and the laptop to any electronics type place,
that way you could be advised of what options are open to you.
