General discussion / Blinds
December 03, 2014, 09:49:08 PM
Can anyone recommend a supplier for blinds in Belfast?  When you search for suppliers you get many results but I'd prefer to have opinion from someone that has had good experience previously.

I'm looking for someone to come out measure and fit them.

Thanks

Anyone bought the online subscription for the Irish news?

How many devices can you register with the subscription? So could I have it on my iPad and iPhone? Could I share the login with a mate?

Thanks

General discussion / Belfast Plumber
December 14, 2010, 09:48:24 AM
Lads,

Problem with gas boiler - its a Baxi Combi 150HE.

Getting a fault on the Fan or Flue (Red flashing light at it)

Plumber I normally use isnt available until Thursday but I have no heating at the moment so house is baltic and the water is freezing (no immersion).

Can anyone recommend a decent reliable Plumber that isnt going to take me for a ride?

General discussion / The Right Words!
August 23, 2010, 04:42:25 PM
Since the board seems to be in a very helpful mood today I have a problem sometimes finding the right words.

I have asked many in the office here for guidance but they are also at a loss when it comes to delivering the right words.

Example:  Line Manager just pops over and says I am away home this evening - if you need anything just email me I should be on later!  To which she gets a tirade of abuse for nipping of home early, part-timer etc.

She then quietly whispers my Aunt just died and the first response to come out of my mouth - "Oh right, Good Luck!"

What words at times like this could really express your sympathy for her loss?  Sorry to hear about your loss is hardly going to be that comforting but also is the last thing I think of saying after just giving the woman serious abuse!

Any help?

General discussion / Dampness and Wood Inspection
July 31, 2009, 10:14:56 AM
Hey folks,

Was wondering if anyone knows much about getting a house inspected for Internal Dampness and getting all timbers checked?

If anyone has got this done recently or can recommend anyone in the Belfast area that would be able to do this please let me know.

Cheers

In previous years in the Irish News, there was ads where you could buy a commemorative medal.  I got one from 03 and 05 but haven't seen one for 08.  Has anyone else seen these about?

QuoteJudge 'amazed' by baseball bats

A district judge has told Londonderry court that he is "amazed by the number of baseball bats in this town".

Mr Barney McElholm made the comments after Philip O'Donnell, 40, from Baldrick Crescent, admitted going to another man's house armed with a bat.

Mr McElholm, who is from Tyrone, added: "If there were fewer, Derry might be more skilled at Gaelic football."

O'Donnell was given a two year conditional discharge. The baseball bat is to be destroyed.
