You're hard to please!

There was some  very good scores taken , but  the  match  itself  was brutal

Penalties need to go

I think McGeeney has taken Armagh as far as he  can. I expect change  there

Quote from: omagh_gael on May 12, 2024, 04:31:03 PMf**k this is shite, playing against Donegal is now just a game of defenders v attackers. There have been some class scores but no jeopardy in the game, hardly any 50/50 contests and zero atmosphere.

Can't disagree with  any of that

Quote from: Rebel84 on May 12, 2024, 03:03:35 PMWas tight for 55 mins decent effort from Louth but the Dubs will likely win comfortably now.

The Dubs are hard to beat at home.

Are they? It's been  so long since they played  at  Parnell Park, I can't remember

Louth 1 ahead

A shock on the cards?

Quote from: burdizzo on May 12, 2024, 12:51:13 PMClearly the Croatian song was by far the best one there, as was reflected by the public vote. However, the juries decided otherwise, so really it's all about pushing an agenda. Just a confirmation of what was probably always the case. Or certainly recently. Can't be letting the public actually decide!

Which agenda  do you think was more prominent this year ?

I expect Israel to have been given 12 points by the UK
Confirmed. Massive right wing media pushing people to vote for Israel

Gave Ireland 10 too, not sure how that fits in lol

I  assume that's all the northern taigs  voting

Quote from: From the Bunker on May 11, 2024, 08:38:52 PMIsrael are 2nd favourites to win. It would be some mess if they do! Can you imagine the pressure on various national broadcasters not to send a representative?

I was thinking that too.

Maybe the best  thing other than everyone Not Voting for Israel , is everyone voting for them. So  loads of  countries  can all boycott is when they stage it next year (unlikely though. Maybe  only a few would).

General discussion / Re: Overused words

I've noticed a  lot of people recently using the term "before the pandemic" or "before Covid" .

Annoyingly, I've even found myself  using it once or  twice.

Another phrase  is "there were no mobile phones in them days" .  Maybe someone talking  about a story from  decades ago.  Well, of course there werent. You're talking about  1950!

Annoyingly, I've found myself saying  that  now too!  ;D

Quote from: burdizzo on May 10, 2024, 09:20:32 PMIdeally, immigration levels would be very low: the problem with massive demographic change is that the host society loses in the long run. Were the plantations of Ireland a good idea?

Depends who you ask

General discussion / Re: Ticket sellers....
May 09, 2024, 10:05:02 PM
I've bought my share  of tickets . I'm currently waiting on two draws coming up

But, maybe I'm being a bit  cynical here but I often wonder is  my ticket  even going into the drum for the top prize?  I mean, who really knows? Maybe  they just put in the local names  to keep the money in the locality , and chuck the outsiders  into the bin.

I mean, who's to  know you're really in there?

PS. I once won one of the £100 prizes a  few years ago  in  a club draw in a neighbouring county , so I'm assuming  I'm just being paranoid about the whole thing.

Or am I? Hmmm... I dunno.

Quote from: Cunny Funt on May 09, 2024, 12:21:07 PMWas passing through Pearse Stadium last Monday and popped in for a look.  Clean up from the previous day 20k crowd was going on and The stadium was filled with plastic bottles. I said to one chap they'll be good money made out of all those bottles once recycled?  no money made they'll be fcuked into the skip was the answer I got.

Would it not be beneficial if Galway GAA allowed a few kids in   after the match to clean up  the bottles, and  allow them to keep the cash rewards? Everyone's a winner.
