Ah well - sorry for the Colmcille lads.....but at least they are not staring down the barrell of a relegation down to Intermediate!

Billys Boots

Not to be ...  Didn't really think they'd have the smarts for Killoe this year.

There didn't seem to be the same, ehm, motivation as there had been against us. The second half was poor for both sides - three points each.

Novenas completed, Abbeylara win the rematch to say up.

Mullinalaghta, Colmcille and Killoe finish level on points at the top of Division 1, with Mullinalaghta edging it on score difference, though not before enother stereotypical County Board fiasco where the county chairman left with the cup before the match was over under the impression that a three-way playoff would be required, before eventually returning to present the cup to a bemused Mullinalaghta captain.

Mixed feelings about it given that although we won the league on score difference (once Colmcille had beaten Rathcline that was more-or-less decided) we lost on the night and played poorly - I counted 13 wides and some players really didn't step up to the plate.

Apparently the County Chairman was given information that there had being walkovers given to teams in the top 3 , therefore necessitating a play off . 1 can only imagine why this was given to him. The cup was given to him to bring to Killoe . Score difference was such that the odds of St Columba's not winning the league was about the same as winning the Euro millions . Might the information given to the Chairman have anything to do with the late decision to allow the game throw in later than the Colmcille game?
