Great display by the Mullinaghta  but especially the Mc Givney's . They'd be household names if they came from Kerry . If Pallatine can score 8 pts. against Vincent's then why not dare to dream . It's not the size of the dog but the bite . Great to see so many people from clubs across the county and from the Cavan area supporting Mullinaghta

Excellent display from St Columba's today. Could have won by more . Ineresting few weeks ahead , Eamon Reilly has declared his intention to challenge for the position of chairman of the county board . A çouple other positions will also have to be filled

Our glorious chairman attempted to change history yesterday adding 10 years to the famine. Also supposedly said in one of his many urgings for Shane Mulligan to come up to the stand s to accept the cup .

Precedent set with Laois/Armagh . Will probably have to be in ref's report. Slashers could demand investigation . if a re fixture is granted it would have to be next weekend as the last 2 games must be played together at same time . If game is voided will red card stand , by all reports it was harsh . Micheal Quinn thought to have broken his ankle  tonight , 2nd county player to suffer a serious injury as Rory Connor suffered a potential career ending knee injury last week

In a recent survey in Longford the following numbers were declared active. 13 year's old 125, 14 year's old 132, 15 year's old 111, 16 year's old 112, 17 years old 96 and 18 year's old 112 . Total 688. Next year's county minor panel will be chosen should they all still be playing from 208 players as no U-16's are allowed on minor panel .

I would be interested in what the assessor made of the ref in Clones yesterday, for about an hour last night  we felt he was riding us . He seemed to realise the 2nd black card was wrong and seemed to give everything to us in the closing minutes. He took advise from Cassidy who also made the 1st blackcard call and who was the referee in our match against Down and was let know by Longford players and managemen how they viewed his preformance. Was this a factor ? . While I would accept they all try to do their best ,last night in Clones all match officials where from Ulster, sideline officials all Ulster council plus the referee's umpires . Total  11 'match officials ' from Ulster where an Ulster team playing a Leinster team . This will always lead to accusations of bias

Hopefully we can get Cork in the draw in the morning. Pearse Park could host a Cork crowd as only their die hard supporters will travel as even thought their about as low in confidence as Down at the minute we'll be still the underdog . Will have to travel to all the other potential counties .

GAA Discussion / Re: Minors 2016

There is little hope of change for the fear that the a successful change would lead to change in the sacred cow of the senior provincial championships . Counties need to get their heads out of the sand and admit that change must come . At present the best most minors can hope for is one meaningful game . The present provincial leagues are a waste and some sort of national league should be tried

What's the craic with playing a league round over four days?

1 game between Dromard and Ballymhon played on Tuesday night , because the Dromard club were running a big fund raiser on Fri night . 4 games played on Friday evening . 1 played on Sunday because both clubs provide most of the county hurling team . Very little sympathy for the the county management on this .

Longford CCCC being as fair as possible to the clubs . Without the clubs there's no county.  Connerton proposed that last week games be played midweek after the Offaly game  between rounds 6 and 7 . That would have meant clubs playing Sunday Wednesday Saturday.  3 games in 7 days ,very noble of him . The county panel has been together nearly 6 months now and if they're not in a position to beat a team they have already  played 4 times in the last year ,then what has been going on . There is little or no support for him after that cringe worthy interview with Marty Morrisey

Games will not be called off irrespective of any consequences with management.  He's had the panel since November had total access to them till 16th of March and now wants them till Longford exit the championship. Not on. The final round of fixtures before the Leinster championship last year was for the corresponding weekend .
The reason the games are not on the 1 day is accommodating the clubs with hurlers who play in the Laurie Maher Saturday and a big fundraiser for another club this weekend . What he is basically saying is stuff the club footballer. A further complication is one of the selectors is a son in law of the chairman

Happened to be in the corridor of the dressing rooms in Pearse Park both before the game and at half time. If there was medals given out for incoherent roaring some Westmeath fella would have a pocketfull .
