Looking at transferring money from the US to home, but obviously want to get the best rate/deal I can.

Aside from doing a wire between banks, has anyone any other experiences? I was looking into TransferWise which seems to be as good a facility as is out there at the minute.

Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Currency Fair or PayPal? Think CF gives you first five transactions free.

Was having a look at paypal there, but it was going to do the transfer without showing me the exchange rate that it was going to use - is that standard?

I use CurrencyFair which is £3 per transaction. More than worth the fee considering the savings made on the bank buy/sell rates.

I use xe trade.

Currency fair told me they dont transfer from the states??

Have used Xoom to send money back to Ireland and always had a positive experience.

The last 2 times I have had to transfer money was from Ireland to the States and I used transferwise and have been very happy with it. I send 1280stg they charged me about 6 quid and I received $1970.
