General discussion / transferring money from US - home
January 13, 2015, 03:08:12 PM
Looking at transferring money from the US to home, but obviously want to get the best rate/deal I can.

Aside from doing a wire between banks, has anyone any other experiences? I was looking into TransferWise which seems to be as good a facility as is out there at the minute.

I think attention needs to be drawn to Lone Sharks last three bet tips!

First off the goals in the Westmeath/Longford game, then a 12/1 with the Draw for the dublin/laois mythical match and a 16/1 for the first goal of yesterdays Offaly/Carlow game! I can see why you are in the profession you are in - you clearly know your stuff. Well I took the first goal option yesterday....much obliged!

If you were to tell me you think Derry may win the All-Ireland now, you'd make me a very happy chappy!

Life of Pi - agree with the other lads, stick with it, it's a fantastic read.

Other books which I've read recently worthy of recommendation:

Vernon God Little - it's a great read once you get into it. A satire on American culture as a small town in Texas looks for a scapegoat after a school shooting.

Last Man Standing - a year in the life of Hurling Goalkeepers - written by Christy O'Connor, he gets up close and personal with all the key hurling goalkeepers for one summer of championship hurling (2004 I think). It gives a great insight into the dedication these lads show, and even moreso into the isolation that a hurling goalkeeper can feel if mistakes are made - some of the abuse these lads get from 'fans' is unreal.

Any Irvine Welsh book - not everyones cup of tea, but if you can get to grips with the writing style (completely scottish dialogue, 'ya ken wha ay mean') his stories are first rate. Most people have seen trainspotting, so if you enjoyed that, you'll enjoy reading Glue, Porno or Filth.

it's definitely an interesting move....they must see some DJ charcteristics!

would such a move not have upset the established members of the team....Mickey McVeigh, Benny Coulter, Dan Gordon etc?

Where has Rooney come from....through the underage ranks?

I'm sure it's been addressed on the Cavan v Down thread, but I'm aking here anyway: How come that Declan Rooney is the captain of the down team if he has never played a championship game up until the first Cavan game this year? Don't get me wrong, I know nothing about him, he may well be great, just seems a strange move to have your captain as a championship debutant.

General discussion / workout programs for the gym
May 28, 2007, 11:38:46 PM
TRying to get back into shape, and rather than aimlessly running at the gym with no goal, I'd be keen to try and set program - going about 3 times a week.

So, anyone know any good routines, or links to good links to some standard workout routines for getting back into shape.....I'd like to combine a fair amount of cardio with regular weight based training.

cheers

QuoteMike Hooper - Long term Liverpool reserve goalkeeper was (until recently anyway) a doorman in Newcastle.

Neil Webb - Ex Man United and Forest midfielder is a postman

just goes to show the increase in wages in recent years.....theres no way a footballer toady about the same level of Neil Webb (say jemaine jenas) would ever in a million years have to work as a postman when he retired. The wages that these chaps get now must make the guys like Webb etc sick.....and rightly so.

Apologies for another new york thread.

Lads and Lassies - heading to NY in a couple of weeks for a few days. I know some of the posters on here live in the vicinity, or have in the past so thought I may get some good advice.

Will be staying in Manhattan, but haven't booked anywhere yet. Anyone know any decently priced hotels? Looking online they seem savage dear.....what should I expect to pay for a basic room in a basic hotel?

Additionally, I was looking at the different neigbourhoods to see which may be the coolest to stay in - says the Lower East Side and East Village are pretty cool (actually the word Bohemian was used, but in my experience that can mean anything from homeless to prentious!), and as I've stayed round the Time Square area before I'd be keen for a change and to check out something more that the normal 'time square, central park, empire state etc'.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
