General discussion / Irish Cashback Site
March 04, 2009, 10:52:47 PM
bit of shameless plugging, but sure it could save ye all a few cents!

Family member has just started a new irish-based Cash-back site.
http://www.bethrifty.ie

Its only be launched slowly and only went live in the last number of days.

Basically it works by you signing up for an account, and shopping at your normal shop, tesco, play.com o2 etc. only you get a certain percentage back on everything you buy.
Similar to cashback sites which exist in the uk.

Any feedback on the site would be grateful!

GAA Discussion / Brian Óg - Give Blood
December 01, 2008, 10:07:14 PM
Can i just make a quick note here about Blood Donation.
Steelstown and Derry Minor Brian Óg McKeever, from Steelstown GAC, Derry, died on 8th November 2008 after battling Leukemia over the previous 7 months.

Can i ask that everyone who is able to, to give blood as often as they can.
The family have organised a blood donation session at the steelstown clubhouse on 15th December 2008. Anyone who is in the Derry area would be welcome to come along. But if not, visit http://www.nibts.org.uk or http://www.giveblood.ie and find out your nearest donation session.

I would ask you all take time to read Joe Brolly's recent article on Brian Og
Steelstown's Finest - Brian Og McKeever - Joe Brolly

As a tribute, at the recent AGM Steelstown GAC Derry will now be called Steelstown Brian Óg's GAC.

General discussion / Brandywell plans blown out
May 01, 2007, 11:44:12 AM
Well it seems even mr quinn can't seen to convince derry city council about the redevelopment plans. Seems like there will be blue murder after all the councillors who backed the plans during the election campaign suddenly had a change of heart.

Queen's defeated Garda College 1-18 to 2-12 after extra time to win the Ryan Cup final in Dublin on Tuesday.

Down man James McGovern scored Queen's goal in the clash at Ballymun Kickhams and helped the Belfast team earn their first Ryan Cup title in seven years.

James McCartan is again in charge of Queen's this year and the team includes his brothers Eoin and Dan.

The QUB side also included Derry men Gerard O'Kane and Gavin Donaghy plus Antrim player Kevin McGourty.

Queen's will hope to add the Sigerson Cup title to the Ryan Cup in February.

Well done to Wee James and the lads.
I'd assume the hatfield was wrecked last night then.
Its been a while since QUB have lifted a bit of silverware!

Anyone have a better match report? Laoisgaa perhaps?

GAA Discussion / Plastic Pitches
November 20, 2006, 06:25:29 PM
I was reading about these plastic pitches and seen the photos of the St Brigids new one in Dublin and it looks a mighty job.

I remember playing on one in Dublin about 3-4 years ago, couldn't believe how good a surface it was and that it took a stud no bother.

Is there many of these pitches across ireland?
Surely they cost a fortune?

And finally, are they as slippery in the rain as you'd imagine?
