Tyrone / Re: Tyrone County Football and Hurling

Funny enough I did see Lorcan Quinn was playing a bit of soccer so was wondering whether that was with management blessing. Who is our back up keeper now?

Quote from: Armagh18 on May 17, 2024, 12:35:20 AMArmagh club leagues round 13 is 26th July and round 14 (final round) is 2nd August. Championship will be towards end of August. What are club players doing from March until Tyrone are out apart from playing 5 league games?
I see they had some Jim Devlin cup competition running for seniors some slog for non county players to keep them interested without any meaningful games to do late in year.

Yeah Jim Devlin cup so teams either got 1, 2 or 3 games in that. I don't think many entered the Ulster league either. I'm sure the players have been in the gym since Christmas and then whenever pitch sessions started plus friendlies etc. I see last night the league has been put back a week so now starting on 31st May. It would have been a long slog to the start of the league.

No need to be starting training so early then when league doesn't begin until mid/end of May

Brown envelopes start when the training starts... Cash flow

The S&C coach and the nutritionist and physios all need their money too. Plus if themmuns down the road are out training then we need to be out training too. I don't know how strenuous the training has been the last few months so maybe its a case of just keeping things ticking over.

Not sure the 'split season' has left things any different or better in Tyrone. Senior league starts next weekend. Play 5 starred games without county players. The remaining 10 league games are played with county players when Tyrone are out. Then the championship and if players are involved in clubs with league or relegation play offs then you'll not be done until the end of November.

Take Michael McKernan for example. He played in the first round of the McKenna Cup on 6th January 2023 and his season with Coalisland ended on 19th November 2023. He was back out again on 7th January 2024 for the McKenna Cup.

Cavanagh said "The GAA are one of the richest organisations in the world" which is what Burns was responding to. Cavanagh hadn't backtracked at that point.

Under the table payments is a totally different issue to whether ot not the GAA are rich.

Burns was 100% right to go on the radio yesterday. Its great to have a president who will defend the GAA. Can you imagine that disaster Larry McCarthy doing the same thing?

And I would imagine most 'Tyronies' would agree or certainly the ones I talk to - Cavanagh was one of our best ever players but as a pundit he is absolutely shocking whether he is talkign about on or off the field issues.

Burns slid in to catch the ball with a Donegal player about to come in and tackle him. I think he called the mark to give himself a few seconds to look at his options.

Also I don't think Burns would have had that kick in his locker.

Quote from: tiempo on May 13, 2024, 01:51:08 PMKath on reception is currently the 8th best receptionist in the league, by 6pm on Sunday she could be 6th best, its a fickle sport but I wish her well in her reception-based endeavors for the week ahead knowing that her contribution far outweighs anything Rashford has done this season

Kath has been working from home too much and taking the complete piss. Now Jim has her back in the office she should be back in the Top 4 next season.

That's both his and Campbells in the one play. Campbell had missed a slightly easier one by a country mile earlier in the 2nd half.

That is an absolutely outstanding interview by Burns, cutting through the waffle.

This line from Jarlath Burns sums up the like of Simon Harris getting involved:

QuoteYou would almost think there was an election coming up."

United should have looked to appoint Richard Hughes, a very average footballer in his day, to the job. Or maybe their playing days have nothing to do with their ability to do the job they were hired to do. . .

Some of you are very fussy. I enjoyed that.

Joe is gonna be heartbroken.

This has been decent so far. Pleasantly surprised. Some very good points. Gallen and Turbitt going well.
