What a bloody country, populated by forelocking tugging lackeys, who think its clever to attack the pay and conditions of public sector workers, who had the balls to organise and fight for decent treatment. But rather than seek equally decent treatment for all workers, be they private or public, they attack and try to tear down what has been achieved. When you sacrificed your right to unionise in order to work for the Dells and other multi-nationals, you bowed the Knee and deserve all you get. Before any of you start crying about small private businesses, which is dominated by the retail and catering sector, remember that these sectors have been exploiting their workers and ripping off the paying customers for years. Idiots like Tony Baloney, would not have had access to the little education he has, and which was obviously wasted on him, were it not for the battles fought by the labour movement. For your childrens sake, get a grip, and direct your ire at the real enemy, the International financiers, not some poor Nurse cleaning shite but buttons

Should you not have posted that rant in the "Right, I'm pissed, are you?" thread?

If every worker in the private sector and every farmer/self employed worker went on strike to get the term and conditions the public sector have what would happened?

Shops and businesses would put their prices up to cover the additional cost. Shoppers would go north in greater numbers and businesses would eventually close. Businessmen and investors would leave for Eastern Europe on mass. Unemployment would double at least. Then who would pay the taxes to support the public sector workers?

Get into the real world.

if they can afford to loss 250m hours in the year without pay it just goes to prove the point that the public sector is over staffed and overpaid

there is very few in the private sector making the same wages they made this time last year and even less made a killing when times were good as you put it

it is also very easy to go out on  strike when you are getting paid for it as they got paid for all the other strikes. When you work in the private sector and go on strike you dont get paid and if you stay out to long the company closes down

the bottom line is the money is not there

Apparently, as part of this deal that fell through the Unions were willing to participate in actions / work practices that wuld have transformed the Public Sector and made big savings in the future.

Why the feck don't they do the right thing and still go through with the transformations, and save this country a fortune of money?
As opposed to David Beggs saying last night "the Government have passed up a real opportunity to transform the Public Sector by not agreeing to a deal".

They should be forced to move across to these more flexible work practices, rather than seemingly holding a gun to the head of Govt by saying "accept our offer of 12 days unpaid leave and we will deliver loads of changes in work practices"!!!!!

This is one thing that the Private Sector has done in spades this past year.  Everyone has had to accept changing work practices in order to make their organisation more efficient.  And thier payback for doing this...........

keeping thier job.

I've all the protection I need under the law.  The labour movement is a relic of the past . Yeah how dare international financiers put billions into this country and give us jobs!
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

A little bit harsh. No one deserves this. People are losing their homes FFS. You should redirect your anger or at least focus on the enemy not those who bought the lie.

For the record - i'm not agreeing with Gnevin  ;)
