Well as newly joined member its good to see a Leeds thread. QPR last night was a huge game but draw wont do much for either. Still believe we will scrape out of relegation. 29000 at the game was great turnout. A sleeping giant we definitly are. Stick with Leeds because things will turn eventually. Football goes round in cycles of ups and downs and look at MAN CITY a few years ago..

Looking forward to this one. We seem to lift ourselves for these type of games. Should be a big crowd. Lads showed plenty of quality stuff so far this year. Wonder how MCNAMARA and Martyn injuries are??? Is doohan out for much longer?? We need ohara for 70 mins this game. Looked sharp the last day. Dont really know much about meath. They havent started the year in great shape though and anyways its all on day.......

It always suprises me the amount of people who dont know the words. Why people feel the urge to roar before it is finished is beyond me.

ST MOLAISE GAELS WILL WALK THE INTERMEDIATE THIS YEAR.  ;D Unfortunetly poor management in the past has cost us dear. But with an outside manager no internal politics and player fighting for places and alot of underage talent coming through. Were a match for any club at underage and this year we will walk intermmediate and will be hard beat in senior next year. No doubt. 25 players going training 3 nights a week whereas in the past players wouldnt train.

O hara looked as fast and fit as i ever seen him but his atitude on the field I have a problem with. He gives so much only to ruin by petty yelllow cards(brainless). He gives the ref an opportunity to send him off. O hara needs to look at himself before blaming refs. He needs to work on the mental side of his game and become a bit cuter. In Roscommon in thesummer S O Neill will punch and dragging him off the ball. Will let us down then?? Yes refs are atrocious but o hara needs to control his reactions.

Well T Taylor was dropped so kinda backs me up. The suprising thing for me about yer opinions which I respect is how different you see some players to me.

Anyways on a positive note how good is our squad this yr. Its brilliant. And sweeney and kivelhan stepping up. Good times ahead and nobody has a clue who half our team are, so we will be underdogs all year long which suits me fine.

Anyword on doohan, mcnamara and martyn injuries???????????/

Disgruntled player I am afraid not. I put county before club in ever term. I aint near county standard anyway. But I love supporting the all blacks and go to every game. I have no hidden agenda or bilinkered club vision..

A few points on: I thought Quinn was good against Galway but leitrim and tipp he was poor. You say ONEILL and QUINN aint slow well I have to disagree. To my eyes they are slow. Not sure about summer football for them.

I agree i was at that u21 game against Galway and I thought hes going to make it but thats 2 yrs ago now and he is still living off that performance. Did T Taylor touch the ball when he came on last Sunday?? He does hide. He looks like a man who doesnt want the ball. That is the harsh reality and truth. Against tipp too it was just disheartening to see.

GAA Discussion / Sligo lads-opinion on T Taylor????
February 14, 2007, 10:47:11 AM
Lads I played county VEC with this lad and been to more Sligo matches than anyone. I dont rate him. He hides on the field. No presence and never catches a ball. Very slow and never scores. Was terrible in Tipp and came on last Sunday and did he touch the ball. Everyone agrees with me but I want a south Sligo view. Even K quinn has lost alot pace too. Was poor against tipp. A few players i dont think should be in panel: G Mcgowan, P taylor,T Taylor, K o neill, Just too slow.

Played for Sligo Vocational schools county team corner forward and senior club. Work commitments have taken me away from playing at the minute. Went to numerous county trials but my club wouldnt have the biggest influence with regards to getting there players on panels.

Had more success at soccer. Playing in Sligo super league and played for Sligo/Leitrim district league u 18 and u 16.

Agree with most of your synopsis. Was a really happy leaving the park yesterday. Thought we were outstanding with 14men. Our full back line is class. Sweeney proved his performance against tipp was no fluke. Kivelhan was class. Them 2 stood out for me. Egan put some work in the middle. O hara looked great till he got sent off. He has to learn to cop on a bit and be a bit cleverer. Hes no good to us getting sent off and yes the ref was a joke but O hara has to take responsiblity for the chip on his shoulder. Martyn and Mcnamara looked serious enough injuries. Very sluggish walking after. Kelly, brehony, did very well yday. S davey well not one of his better days. Anywayss Meath next in the park. Hopefully therell be a bigger crowd. Obviously alot of sunshines in Sligo. ALL in all Im happy mainly because our squad shows it has alot of hidden strength and depth.

Was at the game yesterday. I have to revaluate how good I thought we were. Because yesterday not many positives at all. Kenneth Sweeney got us the draw yesterday. He came on when we were 4pts down and ran at Tipp time after time. S davey got some great long range frees once again. J Martyn was very solid again. Mcnamara did well but went out of near the end. His goal chance well he created it brilliantly and  keeper made great save. Brehony and O hara did ok.

Right the negatives. Our defence fouled and fouled and fouled again and again all inside d brownes range. Stupid fouls. We made it so easy for them. T Taylor was absolutely pathetic. Didnt try didnt catch and didnt run. How he lasted as long as he did. T Brehony diisappointed me with his slowness to make change. J McPartland was terrible too. K Quinn was poor but at least tryed. P Gallagher is average. B Egan v poor game them the goal with a stupid pass. We actaully dominated the game for long spells but tipp were far direct and clinical. We seemed to headless chickens running the ball into corners.

The ref was terrible for both sides but worse for tipp. We were lucky to get the draw. Alot of mouthing by Sligo players too and getting booked for it. Our discipline is poor. Heard some players giving out to each other but should have a real look at themselves.

Anyway can someone please tell how T Taylor is on our panel never mind first 15???? Why do they keep picking him??? We start with 14 men every game he plays..

Very optimistic this year. Was at the galway and leitirm FBD games. Although patchy performances we showed how good we can be. Im heading to Dubs v Tyrone then to Ardfiannan day after. Heard the pitch isnt the greatest.

Could you explain to me why Ros Leitrim cavan and longford are playing in is it the manning cup or hasting , and will Sligo be playing pre march b4 the championship starts...?

 My predictions

Tyrone
Kerry
Cork
Dublin
Mayo
Donegal
Fermanagh
Limerick

Armagh
Galway
Laois
Louth
Kildare
Derry
Down
Westmeath

Monaghan
Offaly
Longford
Roscommon
Leitrim
Clare
Carlow
London

Sligo
Meath
Wexford
Cavan

With all our players back and coming to form have to back ourselves although it maybe suprising to people outside the county.

Cant see Rossies doing much senior this year there minors have clouded how bad they are.

I personally dont think QUINN is the saviour everyone thinks he is. He is so slow. I dont rate naughton that highly either. Average enough.

My starting 15 would be:

Greene
Donovan
Mcguire
Harrison
martyn
mcgovern
J Davey
O Hara
Doohan
Curran
Brehony
Egan
Kelly
Davey
Mcnanamra

Subs
mcpartland,quinn,phillips,naughton, marren, t taylor, o neill, sweeney,, gallagher,p taylor

Very optimistic about this year. Lets just worry about ourselves. Plenty of youth experience pace and talent. Best squad for years. We could win div 2. We have better team than Ros just will have the belief on the day. Will we leave our best football till qualifiers or we will for once do it in connaught.
