Did New York even get to play challenge matches coming into that game last night? A bit of unwanted piece of history for Leitrim.

Not against any Irish teams - might possibly have played some of the US clubs (most likely the New York teams)

It was great entertainment, thought Leitrim would prevail in extra time but it didn't materialise.

Leitrim between challenge matches, FBD and league will have played in excess of 10 counties whilst New York haven't had played one. A far more talented panel then Leitrim but still some result.

Unbelievable news to wake up to. If they beat Sligo are they into the all ireland series?!?

They are. The details are horrid complicated though. The boys in the CCCCCCCCC will be praying it doesn't happen. Probably won't happen either. Sligo are getting their stuff together.

I thought last year London and NY were excluded from the Tailteann , presumably for operational reasons.

Best chance Leitrim had of reaching a Connacht final. Was looking forward to the build up to the Semi final with Sligo. Will be very hard to lift this panel of players for the remainder of the season.  Will Andy Moran hang around for next year?

They weren't hammered. They were very close and there is no shame in being beaten by that team. To give up now would make no sense. They still have the Tailteann.

The 2006 Ulster hurling final was played in Boston after New York reached the final. There was some concern about the immigration status of some of the New York team.

No shame in losing to NY? The tyranny of low expectations

Not really. Leitrim are division 4 and have the lowest population base in the championship. This is probably the best NY team for a while.
I thought they would win.

Watching the Sunday Game, the stadium in NY is crap. No game in the All Ireland should be in the likes of that.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Apparently it doesn't belong to the GAA
Generally US infrastructure is poorly maintained

It looked far more atmospheric than the empty stadium after empty stadium during the rest of the programme.

Yes, that with the associated pitch invasion, rather than the poor investment in the stadium was my main takeaway from the historic victory.
