Has anyone any recommendations for a VPN that allows someone in the Republic of Ireland to access the BBC iPlayer? I've tried both ExpressVPN and NordVPN, and struck out with both (by which I mean, the iPlayer software has dectected that I'm using a VPN, rather than the VPN failing to identify me as a Mancunian, or whatever).

Kings of September by Michael Foley, about the 1982 All-Ireland Final, is the best GAA book I've ever read. First-class in every way.

House of Pain by Keith Duggan, about the Mayo football team, spoke to me, but I have skin in that game, God help me.

Hurling: The Revolution Years, by Denis Walsh is excellent on the golden years of 1990s hurling.

Over the Bar, by Breandán Ó hEithir might be hard to find now but it's a classic. Published in 1984 for the centenary, it's an elegy to a lost Ireland and the GAA's role in it.

Agus spéis agat snas a chuir ar do chuid Gaeilge, bain triail as Lá an Phaoraigh, le Seán Óg de Paor. Suimiúil go leor agus, níos fearr arís, tá an Ghaeilge caighdeánach go leor, rud nach bhfuil chomh  coitianta mar a shílfeá i bhfoilsitheoireacht leabhar Gaeilge.

Very difficult to know where Dublin are at so just so difficult to predict and can Mayo put back to back performances together.

Those kick out stats will have alarmed McStay especially considering so many were contested but on the flip side they managed to win despite only winning 12 out of 37 kick-outs.
very valid point, we have been badly beaten in the middle third for three straight games.
Cannot see how that can be resolved in a week. Who knows.

Yes, would be a major concern at this stage. Can't win ball in midfield when we go long, and Reape is getting jittery when opposition puts on a press.
The stats from last week show Galway really should have won that game, but same old Galway - they just don't have the forwards 😉

Good man, T.  ;D

Mods, delete if not appropriate.
At the end of the game I wanted to go on to the field and shake this man's hand. Given the manner of their defeat I didn't think it appropriate. I've nearly 8 years sober and it can be a struggle at times. Reading his story last year and hearing him on a podcast was brilliant. It really helps when I'm down and gives me inspiration to keep up with my own training. I would have liked to have let him know that. If anyone from WM knows him could maybe tell him that his opening up about his addiction has been an inspiration and help to someone else that would be great

Good man Tonto.

Mayo's All Ireland title to lose now!

Based on beating the AI Favourites (who are still in the Championship) in a League game?

How is it a league game though ? Not saying we are now favs for Sam but to downplay that win against the X factor county in their home ground where they haven't lost a championship game in 28 yrs is potty . They are sick and mayo proved to me and everyone else today they are right in the mix .

Was todays game knock-out? How many of Kerry's previous Championship games in the last 28 years were not Knockout?  Don't get me wrong it's great to beat Kerry and it sets us up nicely. Lets not loose the run of ourselves.

Spot on Bunker.

One of the weaknesses of county based teams is the lack of opportunities for skilful players in weaker counties. There is very little chance of smaller counties producing 15 good players on an ongoing basis. But they could and usually do have 1 or 2. I'd like to see a way for those players to be accommodated. Perhaps a Provincial side made up of losing counties could be a thought

There's only one way to help weaker counties. Income from all counties is pooled and redistributed equally among all counties, so Leitrim get the same share as Dublin or Kerry or Mayo. And pigs will fly before that happens I'm afraid.

I disagree with the exception of the  Dubs and the Galway.. Cannot seen anyone else getting close to these two. This is shadowboxing for a potential all Ireland final.   I said it before and I will say it again, this Mayo team mean business in 2023.

Sure they mean business every year rrhf. It's the execution of that intent that lets them down, just as it will this year. It's very, very frustrating.

Sarah McInerney has ruled herself out.
Glad to see McInerney gone. The woman has zero charisma.

She must have really hurt you Border. Don't worry. Time is a great healer. Plenty more fish in the sea.

With 3 out of 4 going through it's not a big ask.
It's how we do after that....

Success for Ros this year is the same as it is for the rugby team at the World Cup - winning a quarter-final.

I watched the game wanting to Roscommon to win but probably more neutral than anything else. Roscommon were very good in so many facets. Ball retentions, setting traps, squeeze defence, clinical etc... but no mention on here about the referee?

Gaelic football must be the hardest sport in the world to referee. What's the point in bitching about any poor eejit that has to do an impossible job?

Mayo are a work in progress and today will dampen expectations and take the heat off Management and the players.

I dunno entirely about the second half of that Bunker. But we'll see.

Unbelievable news to wake up to. If they beat Sligo are they into the all ireland series?!?

They are. The details are horrid complicated though. The boys in the CCCCCCCCC will be praying it doesn't happen. Probably won't happen either. Sligo are getting their stuff together.

Very shocking, upsetting news. Never met him in the real world, only posting here. God have mercy on him.
