Archie Mitchell

Inside Man on ITV London now. Good show.

Just watched Slumdog Millionaire again, what a great film. Didn't get all them awards for nothing.

Seen Inglourious Basterds at the weekend as well. Class!

Couldnt get into that film at all - maybe it was cos i missed the first 20 mins i duno but wasnt doing it for me so turned it off

Canalman

Very unimpressed with Slumdog Millionaire last night. Imo massively overrated and not the flick I hoped to see. Watchable only.
Watch Shallow Grave tonight on Film 4 for Danny Boyle at his best.

Billys Boots

Slumdog Millionaire did nothing for me either - good yarn, but nothing special.
My hands are stained with thistle milk ...

i'm watchin bruno atm, not impressed

Sick is what it is. Not funny, bar one or two bits.

whats sick about it?

Way over the top sex scenes. And yes, I would say that if it was man and woman.

havnt seen it myself. What way were the scenes OTT?

No, wouldn't recommend. A few funny bits like the American talk show with the baby and that. Borat was much funnier.

Borat and Bruno are completely miles apart... Borat nearly made me fall off my chair a few times with laughter I thought it was fantastic. While Bruno just made me cringe really. A lot of OTT gay stuff to try and shock people which to me isn't funny. I've watched many films more than once but Bruno does not fall into that category.

apologies if folks have posted Kermode reviews before, but they are great value, good listen.

Love his one for the 2nd transformers movie, good rant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g__bQ-Y7D8Q

Kermode is a total legend have been listening to him now for a couple of years on 5Live he has some knowledge on films, its unreal and also tells it like it is.
I heard he was being lined up to replace Jonathan Ross on Film 2010 or what ever the title of the programme is. Hope he can transfer from the radio to tv.

I thought Slumdog was a bit of a damp squib myself. Was ok but not something I'd be in a rush to watch again.
Shallow Grave is a great flick...would put it well above Slumdog.

Watched The Hangover last week....I was a bit disappointed, but it was ok. Mildly amusing would be how I would describe it.

The thing about slumdog millionaire is because it won a lot of oscars people are calling it over rated. It won a lot of oscars because it ticked all the right boxes. It was a good(not great), original,  commercially successful movie that depicted the life of underpriviliged children. That is always going to help at oscar time.

Also like a lot of movies you can't walk in after 20 minutes and expect to get it. If you want to watch a movie and enjoy it watch it from the start. A lot of other people who only saw it recently are suffering from the fact that because it was so "highly rated" they were expecting a lot more, and that can leave people with a bad feeling towards a movie.

I saw the Book of Eli tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Obviously similar in many ways to the Road, but this move is good in its own right. It is a  religious themed hollywood version of the Road and is very entertaining.

8 out of 10.
