Couple of good ones on tonight. 21 just started on RTE, 50 Dead Men Walking is on later on BBC for those who are interested. Anyone seen Deliverance? One I've been meaning to see and it's also on later.

Big Trouble in Little China on channel 4 now.

Goon the ice hockey comedy fighting movie with William Scott Thomas is pretty good. 7.5 out of 10. Alison Pill is a real cutie.
You have got to be joking.
Agree with DJ. I googled her to see what your were on about - her face is too small for her head

But that is what I like about her.

Was gona watch the kings speech tonight is it worth watching?

Yes.

Have to disagree with you there. Imo The King's Speech is dung and way overrated.

Recently saw

The Sauna.............. A Finnish horror film which I didn't really get

Troll Hunter................... Very daft, very unbelievable and by the way very enjoyable. Well worth a watch imo.

Lantana. Australian drama. Very very good, acting is great, would give 9/10
Joint Security Agency, Korean story of relationship between border guards in the demilitarised zone. Ok, not great, 7/10
I Saw The Devil. Korean, revenge story. Good enough show, quite brutal in parts, not as good as Old Boy. 7.5/10

Just watched Hunger there... An awful awful excuse for a movie!!!

It has no real plot, it's grotesque and I don't quite understand how a movie like this happens. There are so many important stories and interesting facets to the Hunger Strike and they have been completely ignored here.

It's the worst film I have seen in a long long time!!

Would agree with you there in that they ignored alot of stuff, but they went with one aspect of it and stuck to it, which was the hunger strike of Bobby Sands! His conversation with the priest is f**king class, think someone said that they filmed that conversation non stop or else is one take, cant mind which one it is.

It's a 90 minute film roughly 40 mins of violence and grotesqueness, a 20 minute  conversation (admittedly the only half decent part of the film)  followed by another half an hour of a guys deterioration with no dialogue and more disgusting scenes.

People seem to have got caught up in the fact that just because it's about the Hunger Strike that it's inspiring or good. It's not and I'm very pissed off that's 90 mins of my life I'll never get back!

In fairness it is a bit artsy fartsy at times. The 20 minute conversation probably being the highlight of the film but there are many dead spots like having to watch someone mop a corridor for 5 minutes.

Seen 50/50 there the other night, great show i would recommend anyone to go watch it-will be out of the cinemas soon enough I'd say.
Break Ball Specialist.

Seen the new Mission impossible.  Enjoyable show, nothing special all the same.

Also watched t**ker taylor soldier spy.  Was dissapointed, it got brilliant reviews but failed to live up to them.  Very slow to start, good acting, not alot of action, the suppense for a thriller was also a let down.  Decent film bit no where near as good as they have been banging on about.

The Iceman

Watched Warrior. Many won't agree because they wouldn't be into MMA as much, but its one of the best shows I have watched in years.
Many have tried to incorporate MMA into movies but failed miserably. This had a Rocky feel to it but the underlying story of estranged sons from their father, broken homes, reconciliation the Irish way (drinking and fighting ;) ) and the actual combat was all very realistic.
I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight

I think then you might have missed the point or at least misinterpreted the form. It not necessarily a film about the story of the Hunger Strikes but about suffering, the clue's in the title if you like. McQueen in this case has made a piece of (film as) art rather than (film as) entertainment. It was never going to be everyone's cup of tea.

Just watched it this morning myself. Have zero interest in MMA but I thought it was pretty good. Very Rocky-esque.

Usually a sign I'm getting desperate when I reach for the foreign language war films but had a look at a few over the weekend.

Attack on Leningrad (Leningrad) is a multi language film featuring Gabriel Byrne about some journalist who missed her plane out and was trapped there during the siege. Complete snooze-fest. Overly long and boring - the type of chick flick best suited to mid-week afternoon telly.

Stalingrad (Stalingrad), a brutal German depiction of the Battle of Stalingrad as seen by a German Officer. Technically a very good film with well choreographed battle scenes and cinematography but the acting is cat.

The Counterfeiters (Die Fälscher) is a great film based on the true story of a group of Jews who were forced to counterfeit cash for the Nazis in a concentration camp. Thoroughly recommended and with only an hour and a half running time it's manageable even if you hate subtitles.

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma). Probably the most disturbing and grotesque film I've ever watched.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sal%C3%B2,_or_the_120_Days_of_Sodom
