General discussion / Re: The Palestine thread

I am surprised the heroes on here have not immediately rushed to the aid of the Palestinian refugees under "threat" from ISIS

http://rt.com/news/246045-yarmouk-isis-damascus-refugees/

Perhaps they want to control the message. No need for the hipsters to see what it is really all about..

I've noticed a fair few Tyrone lads bemoaning the state of football recently. It is almost as if they are trying to distance themselves from the monster they created. I think if you lads are honest you will accept that you owe Pat Spillane an apology. He called it right a long time ago. Fellas like Brolly are only waking up to the truth now...12 years later... ::)

Anyway, are there any Tyrone lads that can actually play football as opposed to playing to a system that we should look out for ?

It is not just the Meath lads. We are all in thrall to the Roscommon bus.

Roll on you mighty sheepwheelers.

Dub-bashing? Bring it on, indeed.

I've known fans to boo a late free but Dubs do it all the time. Kickouts too and when players down injured. Scumbags.
birds of feather! How well do u know them? What county are ye from?

What does it matter where I'm from?

You don't need to know them. Attend a Dublin match and you'll see and hear all you need to.
if it doesn't matter y don't you reveal ?

He is from Armagh.

If I understand correctly Athlone is considered Westmeath even if half of it is in Roscommon. What is stopping them extending the boundary and just taking over the whole shop ?

All of Athlone is in Westmeath.
The boundary more or less goes along the bypass.
Roscommon Council ceded the west bank to Westmeath back in the late 1800s
However, unlike the other end of the county when it comes to GAA, we're not bitter about things like that.

Plenty of people with Athlone, County Roscommon addresses. The town (urban area) was ceded for admitstrative purposes in 1898, most of the town that now exists simply didn't when that happened and most of the growth in the Athlone area has occurred outside the town proper so it hardly applies in the manner you're suggesting.

Everything west of the Shannon remains in the county of Roscommon. The difference between it and the Ballagh situation are very signifcant.

really ?  surely most people in Athlone would identify as Westmeath so I assume the parallels with Ballaghaderreen are pretty straightforward.

It was nice the way the Monaghan fans gave the team a standing ovation coming off the pitch.

I think most Kerry people were a bit bemused though. We could have sworn it was just a league game....

Still, if lads like Main street can avail of this once in a lifetime chance to rub it in then who are we to begrudge them....

GAA Discussion / Re: The State Of Gaelic Football

If Nordie teams concentrated on developing the skills of Gaelic football we would not be at this impasse.

Why are they so scared of playing football as it should be played ?

The Govt are announcing this tomorrow. Should ALL soldiers be remembered? Should the cause be celebrated? Lively debate on Claire Byrne show.

What you mean , the British soldiers? Why would they be remembered for?

Of course they should be remembered. 1916 was battle after all. If you belittle those that you defeat then you take away from your own achievement.

It must be the Ireland that we live in today so.......

What the government does to commemorate 1916 won't matter a fcuk to me.

why should we care what you think ?

Yes, one particularly sick f**ker Mr Dwyer.

No doubt he will get lots of assistance living out his fantasies in the big house.....
I'm sure he'll be a focus of attention.
Amazing that the Gardaí got the phones. He would have gotten away with it otherwise.
What was  "amazing" were the actions of a conscientious citizen and a diligent garda.

It is the the kind of ordinary decency that cynical, knowing c***ts like you will insist on portraying as "establishment" "snooping" under different circumstances.
