"Polarisation" and "both sides" is the language of legitimisation, though.

There are two sides alright - the side that has a reality-based worldview and the side whose worldview is based on outright denial of reality.

These "two sides" can also be described as "non-fascist" and "fascist", respectively.

Only one "side" is legitimate.

The other "side" needs to be faced down ruthlessly and defeated, because its aim is to destroy democracy, destroy the concepts of knowledge and truth, and to destroy ordinary people and societies.

The thing is, though, that the great majority of foot soldiers and useful idiots, like the lads here, don't really understand that this is what they're supporting. Their votes are being harvested by monsters who feed them tales of monsters.

Democracy is being subverted by Fear, Ignorance, Stupidity and Hatred. Who'd have thought the next holocaust might be caused by FISH?

On the bright though, they're having fun watching the nasty libtards flipping out.
The weird, mind-boggling truth is that this is very much at the heart of their hatred of progressive politics . All of the (few) people I know personally who endorse the right wing agenda will regularly refer to  the "smugness" of progressives as a motivation to oppose everything they describe with their swear-word "liberal". You practically never hear the same thing in reverse.

It's the same syndrome that motivates the demonisation of experts and the challenge to science. They hate the person who proves they're wrong more than they hate the person who caused them to be wrong by deliberately lying to them. As somebody said, they would rather burn the world down than try to live in it like adults.

Linguistics and framing is at the heart of realty-denying far right politics. It's at the heart of all propaganda.

It has a whole lexicon and a whole strategy of deflection, evasion, obfuscation and lies designed to appeal to base prejudices and whip up fear and hatred.

It never, ever strays outside of it, because to do that, would be to fight on reality-accepting terms. It must never do that if it wants to win.

It's 21st century Goebbels and then some.

These people are fighting a vicious war in which genuine debate has no part whatsoever, and the sooner ordinary people realise this, the sooner these shysters and spoofers will be defeated.

This is a technique frequently used by far right nutcases to control the terms of "debate". Basically just fire out lie after lie after lie.

And always in a super confident fashion.

When you have no interest in facts and every interest in promoting lies, you can do that.

The airwaves are polluted by the these robo-fascists. Not just in the US, but, increasingly, everywhere.

Media loves them because they provoke "reactions". It's all about "reactions" these days.

And sadly, that makes media who platform these reality-deniers complicit.

So EasyTiger.....you're telling me that if the number 2 person at Facebook held secret meetings with Trump, shared "research" with him before the election and said that she desperately wanted him to win, you'd be perfectly fine with that?  Just checkin

It is a repeat of the 1930s

Capital will not give up  until it is forced to by the people. People first of all have to understand what is going on but journalists also need to understand and
there is very little understanding anywhere

Use of the term Polarisation does not mean legitimisation.
Polarisation is a tool used by plutocrats to prevent reform.
The UK has been paralysed for the last 2 and a half years over Brexit, which is a polarisation machine

Maybe they can unearth another shocking video of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dancing on a roof top in college.

That'll show 'em!

The term "polarisation" implies equal legitimacy between two sides. It does not make a value judgement between these "sides".

Therefore it is a term which legitimises fascism, even if that is not the intent of the person who uses it.

The ideology of fascism has no legitimacy whatsoever.

The plutocrat agenda is anti demand, anti inflation, anti progressive politics, anti payrise, pro debt, pro deflation, pro capital, pro market, pro ultra low interest rates .
In 2010 the banks could have been resolved by converting debt to equity but debt would have lost. Instead debt got 100 cents on the dollar thanks to the generosity of the taxpayer. It's also the reason there was another asset bubble in Dublin house prices. It is a system of Asset bubbles.

Debt-driven polarisation implies some kind of fascism , some ideology that is not rooted in reality.
Using the term polarisation does not legitimise Brexit or Arlene talking shite.

Yet the only reason I became aware of the video in which Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was dancing was through seeing it in tweets by pro-Trump fascist accounts, which were retweeted by non-fascist accounts I follow, which were highlighting the absolute misogyny and downright creepinesss of pro-Trump fascist ideology.

Pro-Trump fascists absolutely tried to "slut shame" Ocasio-Cortez.

They belatedly tried to row back - but only when they knew it was completely backfiring and merely exposing them as the vile, misogynist creeps they are.

They were words said in jest in a private conversation. No actions.
Tell me that you've never said anything off-color in your entire life regarding females.
Ellison physically attacked his girlfriend. There is no comparison.

But democrats didn't discard him.

How do you know there were no actions?

Women have made allegations of assault against him.

And now he's king of the American right.

I notice you're capable of engaging in whataboutery yourself whenever you're in a tricky spot and don't want to address the initial question about Keith Ellison.

As for Trump - They were gold diggers all looking for a payout. Nothing substantial that they could actually bring to court. If the democrats had anything on him you can be sure it would have surfaced by now. Stormy Daniels was their money shot.

I did address Ellison. The woman put out an allegation and did nothing to substantiate it despite the supposed existence of a video. He denied it. It was he said/she said. Given that, what else is there to say? If you can find something I've said here that is inconsistent with that, bring it up by all means.

As for whataboutery, EVERYONE engages in it. Its absolutely appropriate, especially when it comes to politics.

But if your side is so righteous on this matter, then I expect lots of women to be making the move over to the GOP side.

And back to Trump, what exactly would some woman who was felt up by Trump against their will on a plane or in a night club or at Mara Lago and so on and on bring to court twenty or thirty years later?

You're so positive he's an innocent victim of numerous "gold diggers", yet equally positive Ellison is guilty?

So let me get this straight - democrats were ready to destroy Brett Kavanaugh given the circumstances of a he said/she said situation.

But fine for Keith Ellison. Nothing to see here. Right. I do love how you went in to bat for him. Your credibility takes a plunge J70.

I must have missed where Ellison's accuser went to a very high profile public forum and gave a very long, detailed account, potentially at great cost to herself, of what allegedly transpired.
