Are you coming out to San Francisco, Jerome? Sticking around for the playoffs in Cleveland?

I've been trying to get to the CYC (Continental Youth Championships) in North America for four years and finally I made it today, Saturday, in Philadelphia. It was worth the wait.

The massive four-day gathering see more than 500 games played and it showcases young players from right across America. The spirit in which the games are played and the talent on show in football, hurling & camogie are a credit to the hundreds of coaches and volunteers who put in the hard hours. And, immense credit must go to the hosts and the NACB (North American County Board) for organising the whole thing.

GAA President Liam O'Neill is here for the duration and told me he wants to back it all the way. I also bumped into Camogie President Aileen Lawlor and Dara O'C with a TG4 crew.

At times, amid all the accents from Donegal to Kerry, you have to remind yourself that you are not in Ireland. I had a great chat with Brian Farmer from Armagh/Toronto and many other great GAA people. Make no mistake, the GAA in America is very much alive and well. It is impossible to capture the scale of the CYC but hopefully these images will provide a flavour of it.

I will be back for the Finals tomorrow.

Just back from the games, had the honor of being one of six referees selected by the Ulster, Munster, and Connacht Council  of the GAA to referee at the games there was two from ladies football as well as the HQ brigade. A once in a lifetime experience and great fun with the children and adults. A joy to be involved and great meeting people from home and further afield who have
almighty passion for our games. Thanks to all involved in the event. It was run in a professional manner, the likes i have never seen before. To the organisers take a knee  ;D, Glenside Abu ( grin and wear it) 8)
