Not sure if this topic has been posted before - did a quick search and couldn't find one.

So after having this discussion with a few club mates at training the other night just wondered what most posters opinion is:

would you rather win an Senior all-ireland with your club (lets assume your club are good enough for the purpose of the question)

or

would you rather win a Senior all-ireland with your county (again lets assume you are good enough to play intercounty and your county are good enough to win and all-ireland)

For me and any of the lads i chatted to it was all-ireland with the club hands down - although the publicity/crowds, etc for intercounty would be much greater i don't think anything would compare to winning a senior all-ireland with your club mates, and i know if we ever did the rip afterwards would be as the gaa ad states.....unrivalled  :D

This leads on to a slightly different question - does anyone think that it would be a good idea to have club allstar awards or to have club players considered for an all-star (i.e. lets say for example a team from galway won the all-ireland club and there centre half back has been unreal in ever game, galway as a county are knocked out of the championship early and during the whole championship there have been no stand out centre half backs - would it not be an option to consider someone who has had an outstanding year for their club??

General discussion / Great Phrases
February 12, 2009, 09:19:04 AM
On the way in to work this morning got a lift with a mate and he came out with a clinking phrase (pissing rain and freezing this morning).  When i hoped into the car he says:

"Brutal morning you wouldn't put a milk bottle out in it"

Got me thinking of other great phrases Ive heard

Tipp fella i worked with in oz came out with the classic:

"thats the craic she said with one leg up above on the table" which i still use and pass off as my own  ;)

Others i can think off - may have heard owl boys in pubs or something going over them:

"Get up them stairs and show me why i married ye"

"Drive it up she said my back is long"

Thats all i can think off at the minute - feel free to add any you can think off.

GAA Discussion / Sunday Tribune Article
January 26, 2009, 10:24:02 AM
Just wondering did anyone read the Article by Kieran Shannon in yesterdays Sunday Tribune?  It was realted to Tony Donnelly - Mickey Harte gets a lot of Credit throughout the media and rightly so but i think this Artcile showed that Tony (and indeed Fergal McCann) plays a vital role in the whole Tyrone setup and hopefully the trio can bring Tyrone to back-to-back glory!!

General discussion / Half Ton Son
January 13, 2009, 01:35:34 PM
Just wondered did anyone see this show last night on channel 4 - we had a discussion in our house of who was more to blame? the mother/then son/the american culture in general where evrything is supersize, etc.  IMO the mother was to blame - her son lying in his room 57 stone and she continually carries him double burgers and chips!!!!
