Since October 2016 we have been collecting GAA Jerseys for Palestine and hundreds of you out there rallied to the call. Some shared our news, some printed our news, some of you donated, some of you collected......... everyone here at GAA Jerseys for Palestine time would like to say a huge GO RAIBH MAITH AGAIBH. We would have nothing if not for you and your generous deeds, we have collected 3,800 jerseys in total. 3,200 in Derry and 600 in Liverpool.

Unfortunately, we have had no way of getting the jerseys to Palestine, subsequently we will be sending them to Syria. I know some of you will be disappointed, however, they will still be going to people in need. There are nearly 5 million refugees which have fled Syria due to the conflict, and I am sure they will be grateful of this impressive haul. Aidan Crawford of St.Vincent de Paul, who is helping us stated

"These items will go to Aleppo with other aid including medical aid. The Saint Vincent de Paul in partnership with Syria Aid, are the shippers and we have contacts in Syria mainly doctors. We have already sent twenty 40ft containers of aid to Greece, France, Syria (Aleppo) and Yemen. We are trying to get aid into Somali and South Sudan. SVP have sent many containers we also have worked on the ground in many Refugee camps."

If you have any Jerseys that still need to be collected, please let us know ASAP. We will send pictures of the jerseys being transported via SVP.

You gathered jerseys for Palestine and now they are being sent to Syria. They can only be got into Syria with the agreement of the murderous dictator Assad. How do you know they will get to deserving people at all. Will they be distributed only to pro Assad Syrians. You are roping in the SVP who could answer a few questions about their funds.

Yes they were for Palestine, but we could not get them them there.

They are going to Syria as well as Greece for the people who are fleeing the war.

I don't know what your insinuating about me 'roping' in SVP, but they have sent containers to refugees before and they are willing to help us.

They will be distributed about volunteers who work on the ground there.

I don't know anything about their funds.

No way of getting into Palestine. Presumably because of the Israelis. Hitler won.

I would have issues with his methods but wouldnt agree its fraud. The whole area of providing support to the third world or to situations like Palestine, eastern Ukraine etc is very difficult. There are so many different poitical/military groups on the ground and not all would have good records on human rights. Hamas can be as cruel to their own Palestinians people as the Israelis

The behaviour of the British forces in Ireland whether in the1916 to 1921 period or the 1969 to 1994 period is nothing to be proud of. Hamas' treatment of Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank etc. who are opposed to them is far worse than anything the Provisionals did to their opponents.
Today we see what Assad in Syria does to his own people. Do we want to see his undercover murderers wearing GAA jerseys? That is the problem when you cannot control aid to refugees.
