Quote from: Milltown Row2 on March 11, 2024, 07:12:13 PMDuring covid there was a definite drop in quality

Has some what improved lately but seems lacking originality at times and reverting to redoing old films or adding a digit on the end of a film (expendables and that car film I've never seen)

We could be missing plenty of decent films if the screenplay hasn't a 'Box Office' look about it and no producer will take a chance with it..

Think Netflix films and Prime are diluting things also
dunno about the drop in quality, bond and top gun were covid movies and both unreal

Top gun was pure tripe.

Top Gun was epic. Loved it.
Tomorrow is promised to no one.

God14

I enjoyed Top Gun as well. A guilty pleasure lol

Dune part two is an absolute masterpiece in film making. Loved it so much I saw it twice.

J70

Watched two over the weekend:

American Fiction - clever and hilarious film. Good to see Jeffrey Wright in a leading role. Brilliant actor.

Napoleon - I enjoyed it, but was left a little unsatisfied with how much it (had to I guess) skipped or glossed over.

Fan theory that he died in the opening scene and the rest is a death dreamscape/fantasy

Never watched Top Gun. No desire to either.  But when  I hear it mentioned , I automatically think  of Team America.

America, f**k yeah!!

I'd imagine   they're pretty much the same movie  anyway

Top Gun 1 yes it was.

The new Top Gun was surprisingly self aware, while never quite dishonouring America.

Roadhouse. I've never seen the original so I lack nostalgia. This is about a 3/10. But every scene with mcgregor lowers the score. Hopefully that is his 1st and last film.

J70

I love the original. Brilliant 80s nonsense, helped in no small part by casting the likes of Swayze, Elliott and Ben Gazzara.

New one looks shite from the trailer.

nrico2006

Original was miles better. This one was pretty poor and seemed to use CGI a bit in scenes where it wasn't needed. McGregor was terrible.

The original, I think, is very good. I don't know whose idea it was to put Conor mcgregor in this but it was a very bad one. The guy is a muppet.

It wasn't really a stretch for him. "Okay Connor in this scene I need you to act liked a swaggering coked up moron."
