Lads and lassies - you hear about a lot of helicopter crashes don't you? I'm thinking of winning the lotto soon enough and giving up the day job so I need to know if these yolks are safe or not.

By coler_news SkyNews - Wednesday, May 2An honorary vice president of Chelsea FC and his teenage son are feared dead in a helicopter crash which happened while they were returning from last night's Champions League semi final.

Mr Carter, who is worth £92m, was flying back from the Liverpool v Chelsea match when the helicopter disappeared from radar screens.

The wreckage was found this morning just a mile away from his mansion in Wansford, Cambridgeshire, where he lived with his wife Judith, son Andrew and daughter.

Andrew, Mr Carter's son, pilot Stephen Holdich and Jonathan Waller were also travelling in the chopper.

The cause of the crash has not been established and the identity of the four bodies found at the scene have not been released.

The Twin Squirrel helicopter left John Lennon Airport in Liverpool last night and was heading to a private landing site near Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, when it vanished.

Police said the helicopter was found largely intact and there was no obvious cause for the crash.

Mr Carter is the founder of Nottingham-based vocational training company Carter & Carter.

He is Britain's 770th wealthiest person, according to The Sunday Times Rich List.

The businessman is one of eight honorary Chelsea vice presidents.

Mr Holdich was co-owner of operating company Atlas Helicopters.

:: Chelsea's vice-chairman Matthew Harding and four other men were killed in October 1996 as they returned from a Bolton Wanderers match.

They had been travelling on a Twin Squirrel helicopter, which plummeted to earth in farmland near Middlewich, Cheshire, following a Coca Cola Cup tie.

An inquest jury returned verdicts of accidental death after hearing that the pilot might have become disorientated flying at night with no autopilot, while trying to map-read and talk to air traffic control
