Disgraceful from Saka. Never a penalty.  This Arsenal side always seem to have something to moan about.

Yeah keeper only stuck out leg and missed ball.

Haven't seen the Saka penalty incident yet but it definitely wasn't a penalty.
This is one of my 3 usernames.

More annoyed about Harry Kane avoiding a red.

Most blatant, bordering on comical, attempt by an attacker to engineer contact I've ever seen!

I know! Anyone that leaves/drags a leg into a defender/keeper to engineer a penalty needs 60 lashes  ;D

Yeah, lots of them do it these days, but that was taking it to a whole new level.

And for what? He made such an exaggerated detour that it was never going to pass VAR review, even if the ref had initially given it.

Make the referee give a decision and see what happens, that's what's being coached. That's in all team sports nowadays btw

Very similar to Wan Bisaka's challenge on Elliot on Sunday. Ball goes in one direction legs and body go in another. A premier league ref would probably given it, whats worrying is Rio & Keown thought it was a pen.

Keown is extremely biased towards so thats no surprise.  If the tackle was on Martinelli I don't think Rio would have been outraged. Saka comes across as a decent lad, but is a bit of a protected species among the English media.

AWB stupdidly went to ground on Sunday and Neuer stood his ground the incidents are not that similar.

Sure Munich should have had a penalty for handball that Arsenal fans don't seem to be talking about!

I didn't see all the angles of the foul on Grealish's leading to their goal from the free kick but it certainly looked at first glance that he made sure he made contact with the tackler. Trailing a leg or indeed kicking the tackler seems to have better than even chances of getting a pen- Anthony Gordon the other week against West Ham being a case in point.

Was reading about that in The Athletic.

I can understand the ref's "common sense" rationale for dismissing it, but surely under the rules he had no choice but to give it?

I don't know.

Well I do know what you're saying.

But if referees didn't apply common sense to soccer (and GAA) the game would be unwatchable.

Almost every referee will punish a late tackle more severely later in a game when a team is protecting a lead, than they will earlier in the game when the outcome is a long way off being decided.

Thats common sense.

It's not as black and white as that bizarre handball, but it's the same chain of thought ie don't force decisions on the game unless they're really needed.

Raya definitely took the goal kick when he heard the refs whistle and not passing it across for Gabriel to take it.

It would have been funny had it been given just for the Arsenal meltdown over it.
